So, you've stumbled upon my about section, where I rant about the origins and history of this site and this domain. Are you ready to read? Good. Let's begin with basics, shall we?
What does "reisei-sa" mean?Reisei-sa loosely translates to "desolation" in Japanese. Since desolation has always been a favorite word of mine (no, I'm not manic depressive or emo, thank you very much) and desolation.net was already taken, I used this word instead. Besides, it's a catchy.
How do you pronounce Reisei-sa?That's very simple: ray-say-sah.
How long have you had this domain? As of June 5th, 2006, I've had this domain for three and a half years.
Why PHP?Because it makes life easier. I dunno. I like being able to automate hosting applications, change skins, and update without having to backlog...some people enjoy coding tediously, some don't. I'm one of those people who doesn't.
How old is your website? I remember when it was hosted back on Angelfire.com...Ah yes, good old Angelfire.com had the heart to host my pathetic excuse of a Sailor Moon website 5 years ago. I spent two years at Angelfire.com before they downgraded their bandwith and space amounts, and because by that point my site was far too large to exist on their server anymore as a free account, I had to move to Shimatta.net (which it seems I have outlasted). I had heard about Shimatta.net from one of my friends, Jessica, who was also hosted there. I spent about a year at Shimatta.net before the hostess, Nati, decided she would delete all of her hostees's accounts without telling them. She never even e-mailed us. She came out with a layout a month or two after deleting us all called "Starting Over", which thouroughly pissed me off. She could have at least given me a two day notice before deleting my many hours or hard work. After the Nati incident I was forced to buy a domain to keep my site running. But actually, my first website has now been adopted, so this network kind of became it's own thing out of nowhere xD
Who helped you in making this site?Sheesh...a lot of people. Let's list:
Tim: Tech support like you wouldn't believe. Not only does he fix most of my stupid glitches, but he's all the time competing with me over who knows the most about coding. He wins hands down, of course...
Molly: Darling Molly let me raid
her hard drive full of Sailor Moon goodies and let me download everything.
She was dear enough to upload nearly 85 MB of images and things for me to
put on the site, which I know was nerve racking for both of us. Molly also let
me put up some of her fanart on the site. Considering she's an artist and sells
her work for a decent amount of money, I'm lucky to have some of her stuff on my
site.
Hostees: My dear hostees also play a role in keeping me
active in my site. My reason for having a domain has changed since I first
got it. Not only am I interested in keeping my site active in the online
world, but now I've been granted the opportunity to watch some of the
best sites on the web develop and grow. Their success brings me happiness,
and knowing that I could offer space and bandwith to the *best* people
on the internet makes me happy. Supporting anime/manga and other websites
has always been an interest of mine, and I've finally been able to fulfill
it. Without my hostees, I don't know if I'd still have my site around,
but thanks to them, I have the drive to keep adding to my site and to my
list of friends online.
Hosting is open for the moment. I've got more space and bandwidth than I know what to do with, so...*shrug* Fill out the application if you're interested.
Do you have a blog? You seem interesting.Yeah, I've got a blog. You can visit it by clicking here. You won't find too many pictures of me there because I don't much like having pictures of me taken. If you want to know more about me, you could always try *talking* to me. You can e-mail me at elly@reisei-sa.net, or Instant Message me on AOL Messenger at sassypants678, or on MSN Messenger at flutegirl87@hotmail.com.
Are you currently working on any new projects? If so, what are they?If it isn't listed on my sites page, then it's a secret and I'll announce it eventually.
Why was your first site about Sailor Moon? Shouldn't you have made your domain have a Sailor Moon related name?My first website was about Sailor Moon because it is the first anime series I ever became obsessed with. Since I didn't really have access to non-U.S. syndicated anime, Sailor Moon was really my only option, since it was all I knew about. I used to watch it on Toonami when I was little starting with the R season, and I started on this site when the S season was first released on Toonami. The reason my domain doesn't have a Sailor Moon related name (which I did consider when buying the domain) is because I knew I would end up hosting other sites, so I needed a more general name that could apply to any site. Having a Sailor Moon name would have been a bit selfish since I knew that not every site I hosted would be about Sailor Moon, plus, there are way too many Sailor Moon related domain names that I wanted that were already taken. Besides, I'm perfectly happy with my current domain name ^^;
Is this almost over?Yup, I'm done ranting about this site. I hope you enjoyed this little history of mine. Thanks so much for stopping by!!
