Basic Tutorial
Using the above login screen, you can access the script we use to add reviews to Ballads & Bows. Here is a brief run-down of what you need to do if you've never done this before or are just confused:
Once you login, your screen will look something like this:
To add news, just click on the "Add News" link, which is highlighted in red in the above screen shot.
Once you've gotten to the "Add News" page, it should look something like this:
Just follow the prompts by matching the color of the text with the color of the area highlighted, and you'll be figuring this sytem out in no time!
If you aren't sure what your review should look like in the editor, here is an example:
Kind of a big picture, but that is basically what your reviews should look like. The images for the staff icon and the rating hearts should be centered. If you aren't sure how to center the images, here's how:
And here's how to bold:
Writing the title of your review
Your title should *always* follow this format: [Reviewer name] 's review of [Song Title]. Be sure to keep your name capitalized, and also capitalize the title of the song you are reviewing! This makes it much easier for visitors to tell which review page they're on, and which author they're reading. <3Check list
Before you click "add news", be sure you've done the following:- You have added in the appropriate title. for example: "Ruth's Review of Katagoshi ni Kinsei"
- You have selected the appropriate category for your review. If you are reviewing "Katagoshi ni Kinsei", you need to make sure the category box matches this!
- Your images are properly centered.
- Your section titles are in bold text.
- Your review has proper spacing. No one wants to read through five blank lines to get to the next review section!
Advanced Tutorial
Here are some more advanced tricks that an experienced reviewer might want to incorporate into their reviewing routine to save time and/or keep track of their due reviews.
Writing reviews that are due next month
Let's say today is February 4th, but you want to write your reviews that aren't due until March today, just because you have free time to do it or whatever. Great! We finally have a system that will postpone your review until the day it should be posted, which in this case would be March 1st.
All you need to do is click the "Article Options" button, and select the "Postpone" button and enter the date you want your news to become "active". Your news will automatically display itself on the date you specify -- so you don't have to keep track of those reviews anymore!
Giving yourself more space to write
Let's say you got really excited over a song, or just really hated it and felt the need to rant. That's fine. But it can become really annoying to have to use the scroll bar to search through your whole review to edit or revise it, you know, just to clean up the curse words or something. There's an easier way to see your whole review at once. It's called the "expand" button:
You can click on the "expand" button as many times as you need to make your text box get bigger, to save you time with scrolling. Happy editting!
