Aruba's Review of "Rashiku" Ikimasho

Tone/Mood: Wow! Bouncy! I love the beginning and the interlude instrumentals, they make you want to get up and dance (or at least make you tap your foot for the less light-hearted.) However, during the parts before the chorus it gets a little boring. It doesn't keep it's "happy" beat for too long. This is a bad thing for me, it makes the song sound a little choppy and rushed when putting they were putting this piece together. Not "yawn-fest" worthy, but it can lose the interest for those who like steady beats all the way through. Despite that, it definitely brings my mood up and can get you energized for sure.

Placement: SuperS ending, which some people might find out of place because after a serious and suspenseful episode, bam, this comes on. Some hate it, I find it a light approach to the SuperS season. It breaks the tension or the tears that may break out after watching certain episodes. I've always loved it.

Memorable: To me, this will always be the "Ami-chan no Hatsukoi" song. Even though it's been years since I've watched it, I'm pretty sure it was the first time I ever heard this song. Since then, after getting out of my Sailor Moon phase, I have forgotten it, but listening it to again made me fall for it all over again.

Lyrics: When I first read lyrics like:

Now my head is spinning, I don't want to get hurt
What should I do? I think I've decided
I'll irritate him on purpose

I think, "Oh wow, this is what I'm going through! It makes me feel young!" I also think it was written by a pure teenage girl, but surprise! It's written by Naoko herself! However, I think that Naoko may have prolonged too much with the teenage girl-ing; there are some parts that make me really believe she is a naive little girl.

Overall rating:

3.5 hearts. It's catchy, the lyrics are cute, and it can make you feel light-hearted. However, it's not the type of song you'd want to hear over and over, it can get annoying and boring after sometime.

Aruba's Review of La Soldier

Tone/Mood: Upbeat and serious. You really feel the power in this song. It hits you with a very pounding tempo in the beginning, and keeps it that way throughout the entire song. This makes me want to kick a bad guy's ass with grace. It sounds exactly what a Sailor Moon song should be, epic and in your face, but with the same battle feeling Sailor Moon has always had. However, I see almost no point in the wolf-howls... unless those wolves happen to be howling at the moon... which never happened in the musicals... or if those wolves turned into werewolves by the moon... okay I'm getting ahead of myself. In short, those wolf-howls scare the crap out of me, but everything else is, dare I say, Perfect

Placement: This is THE Sera Myu song, and when I say THE in capital letters, I mean this song IS Sera Myu in a nutshell. I don't mean that, in terms of lyrics, this song gives a summary of all 24 or something musicals. I mean that if you want to watch any of the Myu, this will be you're reason. If I remember correctly, the song itself (not this version in particular) has been used in every Sera Myu performance to date. Which I find absolutely no problem with, and would be really surprised if anyone did.

Memorable: Hearing this song for the first time at 9 years old, I can honestly say, at 15 I still remember the dance moves, the lyrics, and even Chibimoon's face! (It was Ayano Gunji for anyone who is wondering) This song is definitely memorable to the musicals in almost every way.

Lyrics:

A thousand years I've repeated love's mysterious battle
From you comes love's moon light
I bask in it and am transformed
Brilliantly, secretly, La Soldier

Even if this wasn't a Sailor Moon song, you'd honestly be thinking "Sailor Moon" if you read those lyrics. Don't lie to me.

Overall Rating:

5 stars. This song pretty much defines the musicals, and has a great beat and rhythm. Pretty much no part is boring to me. Even getting 5 stars with the wolf-howls is great accomplishment!

Aruba's Review of Unmei wa Utsukushiku

Tone/Mood: After my very first time of listening to this song, I can say it's really soothing and pleasant. I love Masako's voice, and the instrumentals of this song. It's definitely not something that would make your ears bleed, this is very good to the ears. The instrumentals surprised me, there wasn't a violin playing! There is rather a mid-slow-pop tempo playing, which I find preferably better for the song, but not Neptune. However, as much as I love the relaxing melody, this unfortunately comes across to me as boring. I am someone who likes upbeat songs, and sadly, this doesn't make the cut as something I can listen to all the way through.

Placement: On the Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon S Uranus - Neptune - Chibimoon PLUS CD, which I don't find as a good placement. Something about being on the same CD as Chibimoon bothers me, especially since her image song and Neptune's image song are really different. I find it a waste for this song. I think it should've been placed in an episode, since the melody is perfect as background music.

Memorable: Honestly, when I went to go eat in the middle of writing this and came back, I had to listen to this again to remember what I was reviewing. I don't know if it's the fact that this song is really new to me, but I bet if it was placed in an episode, I would've definitely remember this more. Maybe I may have to give it some time.

Lyrics: The lyrics sound REALLY Neptune, this in particular sticks out to me:

I extend my fingertip toward you
In this profoundly colored darkness
That we're being dyed by

I can really imagine Michiru holding out towards Haruka!

Overall Rating:

3 hearts. The good qualities overtake the bad. Although it is a beautiful song, I am not the type of person who enjoys listening to these type of songs everyday. I would probably pay more attention to it if it was in an episode, and not on one CD. It's definitely worth a listen if you want some relaxing time to yourself, as Masako's vocals do just that for you.

Aruba's Review of Sakura Fubuki

Tone/Mood: Flamenco! Not really, my favourite type of genre, but here, it works! I feel like getting up, grabbing someone off the street and start flamenco dancing with them! Keiko's vocal's are VERY controlled for an actress, and I love the backup vocals on this track.

Placement: It was put into Episode 23 of PGSM and the Kirari Super Live. I say it was perfect for Episode 23; an episode I found really, cute and enjoyable to watch, which brought some light-heartedness into our strict little Rei-chan. Kirari Super Live, the dance moves were great, (I remember SPECIFICALLY my sister saying "Ew! The Amy touched the Mars' butt!" when I watched it almost 4 years ago) but, Ami-chan's vocals and the HORRID lipsynching ruined the performance. I'm not saying that Chisaki's voice is bad, but this song did not suit her voice that much.

Lyrics:

There's no such thing as God
But I want to believe in something
And now I don't want to become an adult
A cherry blossom snow storm thinning out

Yes, I know these lyrics are repeated over and over with these reviews, but this is probably the highlight of the song. This really makes me think 'PGSM Rei'.

Memorable: Definitely! I still remember the lyrics after 4 years! The back-up vocal's are probably going to make you remember this for another four years also!

Overall Rating:

4.5 stars. As much as I want to give it 5, I have to say the Kirari Super Live Performance didn't do it for me. They should've had Keiko sing it solo. However, even though one would expect me to not like this type of music, as I am more towards pop-upbeat music, this song makes me REALLY change my mind. It's one of the few slower-tempo-ed songs that I can listen all the way through AND enjoy. This is definitely worth a listen!

Aruba's Review of Solar Miracle Make-Up

Tone/Mood: Sounds much like "La Soldier", but instead of feeling the power that comes with "La Soldier", I feel the "cheesy-ness" that came with this song when I first watched it. Anza's voice is great for this song, but this song is basically a copy of "La Soldier". Now, you might be thinking if it's like "La Soldier" I'd like this kind of song right? Wrong. There are differences with "La Soldier" that are not present with "Solar Miracle Make-up" such as the power, and the feel for the musicals. It's also pretty repetitive. The beat is nice, and it's pretty energetic, but, that's almost pretty much it for me.

Placement: Used as an "end-of battle" song in Gaiden, which I honestly did not see the point of it. It should've been used IN battle, not when it's haulted or over.

Memorable: Okay, yes it is, but not in a good way. The thing I will ALWAYS remember hearing this song is the chessy wire-flying done with the Senshi, and how tthe wires almost crossed together, and how the venus was fakely smiling with her HORRIBLE wig etc.

Lyrics:

Sailor beauty
In the solar system invinsible if assembled together
Solar Miracle Make Up

I'm sorry, but, what?

Overall Rating:

2, I'm very sorry to those who like it, but there are a lot of problems that I feel when this song comes on. I would've given this a one if it wasn't for the beat and Anza's voice.
