Elly's Review of La Soldier
Tone/Mood: What a great song! It really puts you in the mood to watch an epic battle between Sailormoon and whatever villain she's going to face for the day. Even though this song was primarily used for the myu, it really has a tone that would make it perfect for any form of Sailormoon.
Placement: You could stick this song just about anywhere and it'd be great for Sailormoon. In fact, in Sera Myu they do kind of stick it anywhere, and it works out just fine. =)
Memorable: You bet! To me this is just as much of a classic Sailormoon song as "Moonlight Densetsu".

Lyrics:
Continuing this way hurts but
With a smile we exchange goodbyes, no promises that
We'll meet again tomorrow
It really just sums up the relationship between both Usagi and Mamoru, and indeed Usagi and the rest of the Sailor senshi. Wonderful. With a smile we exchange goodbyes, no promises that
We'll meet again tomorrow
Overall Rating:
5 hearts! This song is simply amazing. Like I said, you could put this song in just about any episode of BSSM, PGSM, or any placement in Sera Myu, and it'd most likely fit in just fine.

Elly's Review of "Rashiku" Ikimasho
Tone/Mood: This song is so happy! I used to listen to it all the time during high school after a bad day at school. It's really great for giving you that "second wind" that gets you through the rest of the day.
Placement: It's just about the only thing decent about the SuperS season...that being said, I liked it more than I liked the Pegasus/Chibiusa pairing.
Memorable: Absolutely! It's not exactly "Moonlight Densetsu", but it's certainly on par with "Route Venus" or "Moon Revenge".

Lyrics:
I'll irritate him on purpose
Winning him over with my sailor uniform
I'll go with "my looks"
Winning him over with my sailor uniform
I'll go with "my looks"
This just screams attention seeking teenaged girl. And what do you know, isn't that really what the sailor senshi are deep down? I think all of us go through this phase at some point. Perfect.

Overall Rating:
It's getting a four and a half only because sometimes this song can grate on your nerves. But overall it's really worth a listen!

Elly's Review of Sakura Fubuki
Tone/Mood: This song is very relaxing, even sultry at times. It's a good song to listen to if you need to calm down, or just when the house is really quiet and you need some soothing background noise.
Placement: Hino Rei performs this song under her alias of "Mars Reiko" in one of the acts, and it's really quite cute. I think it could have been done a little better, maybe it would have made more sense to place it at a sadder moment, or at least a more serious one. The song is a little too serious to be played just for an audience of children. The scene where Rei has a fight with her father at her mother's graveside seems to be a better placement for this one.
Memorable: Definitely. This is probably my favorite PGSM song.

Lyrics:
Always I look for the appearance of a white angel
Surely she'll come down to me
And give me new wings
Surely she'll come down to me
And give me new wings
This is really a perfect song for Rei. It's almost as if she's singing to her mom up in heaven.
Overall Rating:
I'm really not a huge fan of Mars Reiko, otherwise this would merit a five. Still a great song, though.

Elly's Review of Solar Miracle Make-Up
Tone/Mood: This song is so energetic! It also has a sense of urgency which I really like.
Placement: I'm at a loss for words here, because I've only heard the song as part of a CD and not during a musical...yet.
Memorable: Ehh. I really don't think so. When this song comes on I either change it or use it as white noise in the background of my daily activities.
Lyrics:
This is pretty much just a repeat of the general message of the Sailormoon songs, except that in this case it comes off as trite and boring.
Overall Rating:

Two and a half. I can't say I'm a big fan.

Elly's Review of Unmei wa Utsukushiku
Tone/Mood: So calm and relaxing! I really like Neptune's voice in this song; it's deep and sultry and mysterious. It kind of reminds me of those jazz singers from the 30's and 40's with their deep female voices and sexy songs.
Placement: Sadly, this wasn't used in any of the episodes, but I think it would have done really well in the scene where after a shower, Michiru and Haruka hold hands and the whole scene turns to sepia.
Memorable: It is for me! I first heard this song way back in the day as a .midi file (back when those things were popular, yikes) and didn't know its title. When I heard it again as an .mp3, I immediately knew the melody!
Lyrics:
These are really some of the most beautiful lyrics I've seen in a Sailormoon song.
Overall Rating:

This song is amazing! Come for the melody, stay for the awesome lyrics!

This fate so beautifully
Strips me bare

Elly's Review of Friend
Tone/Mood:
Very upbeat and happy. I am a little annoyed that pretty much through the entire song only two or three chords are used, but whatever.
Placement: It was a nice way to end PGSM (because Lord knows when Friend was used as an ending song for it, it needed to end). Other than that, bleh. It would have been nice to use in the episode where Ami is having problems fitting in with Usagi and gang.
Memorable: It's a very cute song, but it just doesn't stick out in my mind for some reason.
Lyrics:
Very powerful imagery. It's a shame they didn't use more of it. I really wasn't impressed with most of the lyrics.

Fleeting sepia feelings
Sealed up in a photo album

The lyrics sprawl on forever, and after a while the background music grates on my nerves. This song gets a two.

Elly's Review of Double Moonlight Romance
Tone/Mood:
Ohh, I really like the opening to this. It almost reminds me of Harry
Potter music in some kind of weird way. It sounds very much like a
movie theme, until the music gets a little darker. And then somehow it
kind of reminds me of the opera music from Phantom of the Opera. I can
almost picture the Phantom singing this song instead of Tuxedo Mask.
Like a duet between the Phantom and Christine, except in this case it's
Moon / Mask. I totally approve. =)
Placement: It works! Very cute and romantic song.
Memorable: It's pretty memorable. Whenever I think of this song I always think of the part when Usagi and Mamoru are both singing "Naze" together. This is a very adorable duet.
Lyrics:
This is a really great way to talk about Usagi and Mamoru's romance through the centuries.

Lyrics:
When I bathe in moonlight
I remember our love before we were born
Endlessly this tender feeling
Floods over me And I think of you, Why?

Overall Rating:
My main complaints have to do with the fact that the song is so darned short. Otherwise, it's very cute! Three and a half.

Elly's Review of Amazon Kara Circus Dan Ga Yatte Kita
Tone/Mood: This song really is kind of like being in a circus tent! It's very upbeat and kind of reminds me of swing music.
Placement: This is a great song for the Amazon Trio to sing. It really lets you delve into their background from before they came to Tokyo to try to steal hearts there. I'm kind of sad that something like this wasn't featured in the anime.
Memorable: Well, being as it is one of the few songs about the SuperS season villains in Sera Myu, yes. But does it stand out the way La Soldier or even Sailor War! does? Not at all.
Lyrics:
Pretty much sums it up. They travel around, they steal hearts, they move on when they don't find what they want. I did find the part with them listing the cities they've been to cute, if only because of the ridiculous Japanese accents they use for pronouncing Barcelona and Moscow.
Overall Rating:

Because really, Black Moon Signal and Innocent Demand put this villain image song to shame. Two and a half.

Elly's Review of Ai no Senshi
Tone/Mood: This song is really uplifting! The mood of it is both urgent and pleasant. It reminds me of being on a road trip for some reason.
Placement: This works great both as a battle song and also as a "sightseeing" song! I think it would have done nicely during the Sailormoon/Queen Beryl battle of the first season as well.
Memorable: Oh, definitely. For some reason this song always reminds me of Sailor Venus (probably because she is the soldier of love). I do confuse it from time to time as being an image song for Venus, but other than that I definitely remember this song well.
Lyrics:
Haha, ain't that the truth. The lyrics are decent, but they are a little too plain for my liking.
Overall Rating:

A solid four. It'd get a higher mark if the lyrics weren't so trite and bland.

Elly's Review of Moon Revenge
Tone/Mood: Oh man! Whenever I hear the opening to this song I get really excited. This has got to be one of my all-time favorite Sailormoon songs. I can't place my finger exactly on what I like so much about the rhythm of this song, but it's great!
Placement: This was such an excellent song to use while Princess Serenity, Prince Endymion, and the rest of the Inner Senshi attempted to slow down the meteor they were on while on a crash collision with Earth in the Sailor Moon R movie. I especially loved the different pans over the soldier's faces while this song was playing.
Memorable: You bet! Sailor Moon R was my favorite of the Sailormoon movies, and of that movie this song played during the most memorable part of the movie.
Lyrics:
Well, this doesn't really have much to do with the plot of the movie that its placed in, but the lyrics are still full of imagery and are wonderful.
Overall Rating:

I finally have it, a love I can hold on to
A person I feel calm around when I close my eyes

I think we all saw that coming. This song is excellent! Five hearts, and staying strong.
