Iron Mouse reviews La Soldier

Tone/Mood ~La Soldier is a happy, upbeat battle song. Since it was performed in every single Myu it is a Sera Myu staple. I first heard it performed live during the S Myu. Seeing the tiny ChibiMoons dance just brought a huge smile to my face. Since it was performed so many times, with different performers and different choreography I, personally, could never get jaded by the song.

Placement ~This song is mostly used when the Senshi are getting ready to battle and as a curtain call. You really can't go wrong with placement on this one. I do enjoy the Gaiden dvd pre-show performance when the girls are in seifuku with their own hair instead of wigs. It really sets the Sera Myu feeling and serves as a great introduction to many years of Myu. The only time I wasn't thrilled with the placement was in Black Lady. The inner Senshi were rehearsing for a talent show and chose to sing La Soldier. Yes, it was cute how Usagi was being teased for not doing proper arm motions but I'm big on the secret identity thing and that just screamed "We are Senshi! Attack us!"

Memorable ~Whether you like the song or not, it is definitely memorable. It is the most often performed song in Myu history so if you are a fan of the shows the melody and lyrics have seeped into the depths of your subconscious. I appreciate the fact that it was used in every performance.

Lyrics ~The majority of the song talks about destiny and having to keep repeating their fate. I like the hidden message with the line "A pearl exposed to us". Usagi's gemstone is the pearl and I feel as if the lyricist wrote it as a tribute to the joy the Senshi felt upon finding their Princess. I adore the two verse version more than the single verse. I don't honestly know why. Perhaps it is because there is more song to love?

Overall Rating

5 Stars! This is the quintessential Sera Myu song. Without it, Myu just wouldn't be Myu!

Iron Mouse reviews "Rashiku" Ikimasho

Tone/Mood ~This is a fun, happy song that makes me want to get up and dance. It is my second favorite theme song in all of Sailor Moon history (not counting Sera Myu).

Placement ~I think I only liked about 10% of the SuperS season and this song falls in that 10%. Almost as a reward for watching a super sweet episode, "Rashiku" Ikimasho is the gift at the end.

Memorable ~Any Sailor Moon song that starts with La la la is destined to be memorable. Granted, it was only used for one arc but I believe it is catchy enough to hold its own.

Lyrics ~This song is another venue for Naoko Takeuchi to talk about the soul mate destiny of Usagi and Mamoru.

Listen, after school, I saw this trickster He looks like my old flame, it's love at first sight Now my head is spinning, I don't want to get hurt What should I do? I think I've decided I'll irritate him on purpose

Tell me that section of lyrics doesn't remind you of the first Earth meeting of Usagi & Mamoru. "Looks like my old flame" is completely true since they were lovers in the Moon Kingdom. "I'll irritate him on purpose" is perfect since all Usagi has to do is breathe to rile Mamoru. When I find I want to cry, I ring this pocket bell And read about soldiers at rest The age of puberty It's okay to re-write it Your fighting profile This makes me think of happy times when there is no enemy so Usagi and Mamoru can rekindle what they once had here on Earth. It is okay to re-write their destiny for the time and place that they are in.

Overall Rating

~I can only give 3 stars because of the series it was placed in. SuperS really brings it down. While it it cute and catchy, it somehow loses the true feel of Sailor Moon. I know Naoko Takeuchi was looking for a pop song with one of her themes but I honestly believe this one went a little too far into the pop category.

Iron Mouse reviews Unmei Wa Utsukushiku

Tone/Mood ~This song has always put a smile on my face. I know when I first heard it I immediately fell in love with it although I didn't know anything about it. The melody is slow and sweet and the artist does an amazing job of pulling you into her world. You begin to want someone to sing this to you.

Placement ~Upon searching for this song because I needed to have it in my music file I found that it was only on the album Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S Uranus - Neptune - Chibimoon PLUS. I wish it had been in an episode although I don't know one place it would fit better than another. Katsuki Masako (Sailor Neptune's voice actress) has a voice quality fitting of Michiru. It it elegant, sweet, mature and full of love for her soul mate. You honestly can feel the true connection between Michiru and Haruka.

Memorable ~Completely memorable to me. Very few songs have brought a tear to my eye when I have no clue what is going on. This is one of them. Even if you are merely a sap for a good love song, check this out. It is so beautiful.

Lyrics ~I could pick this song apart, line by line, and explain just why this is the perfect character image song for Michiru to sing.

I extend my fingertip toward you In this profoundly colored darkness That we're being dyed by

This automatically brings me to the scene of them dying where they intertwine their fingers and then slip away. They know they will always be reborn and will always find each other allows them to die in peace.

Overall Rating

4 hearts As much as I love this song I can't give it 5 hearts because it was never in an episode. This song screamed 'Put me in a heartwrenching episode' but alas, it was never meant to be. The only way to find this song is through fan made sites right now since the cd is so scarce to find.

Iron Mouse reviews Sakura Fubuki

Tone/Mood ~This is a mellow ballad which is a change for most Sailor Moon songs. The first time I remember hearing it was during the Super Live Event. The melody is beautiful and you really can get lost within the song.

Placement ~I honestly didn't realize it was in Act 23 until I read it on this site. I truly enjoyed that Act and fully remember Mars Reiko singing but I don't remember the song. This leads me to believe that it was not an appropriate place for the song. Perhaps the scene where Rei is at her mother's grave stone would have been more appropriate. ~During the Super Live Event I mainly remember Rei and Ami singing with their arms raised and intertwined while they walk in a circle around each other. Since this performance had the girls singing it fit in although I'm not 100% positive Ami was the best choice for this particular song.

Memorable ~Yes and no. It was not memorable during the actual PGSM series but it did connect with my brain during the Super Live Event. The opening of the song is very catchy.

Lyrics ~I can read the lyrics and see it being sung by either Rei or Mars, both about something different.

Around the sweet smell of a purple lilac A distant memory of snow Washes away with a murmur again Forever I'll chase after This deep forest, facing toward Where you'll surely be waiting The person who will walk along with me This brief shower is over I want to look up into the night sky It seems that here time stops I want to stay a little girl

Rei: she misses her mother terribly and wants someone to be close to again. She will run towards anything in order to get to her. Looking up at the sky she may just see her mother within the stars and feel the way she once did when they were together. Mars: She is singing about the inner turmoil she feels knowing she has a destiny in life where she will have to fight to protect her princess. Each brief battle ends and she is able to return to being a girl again.

Overall Rating

~3 1/2 hearts It is unfortunate that this song had crappy placement within the series. I truly believe that it is a beautiful song and could have been much more memorable in a different location. Due to song placement I can only give 3 1/2 hearts.

Iron Mouse reviews Solar Miracle Make-Up

Tone/Mood ~This is an upbeat song with a lot of quirky sound effects in it. It was created to sound like you were flying through the galaxy.

Placement ~This is usually right after the senshi henshin and are about to battle the enemy. I believe it has been sung during an actual battle sequence. Since it is a battle song, it fits perfectly where it has been placed.

Memorable ~It is memorable to me but not in a good way. I always associate it with flying senshi. It seemed during the first stage someone had to fly during this song. Unfortunately, it is most memorable because of Sailor Neptune landing on her butt during S.

Lyrics

In the solar system invinsible if assembled together This line just screams that the senshi are extremely powerful, especially if all are fighting as one.

Other than that line, the lyrics are a bunch of words about astronomy stuck together with actions the senshi do.

Overall Rating

3 hearts Since this song is cheesy and makes me think of senshi toppling over I cannot give it a higher rating.

Iron Mouse reviews Amazon Kara Circus ga Yatte Kita

Tone/Mood ~This is an upbeat, peppy song which truly sounds like a living advertisement for the circus. When you hear it you really want to bounce around and clap to the beat. Hear this song once and you'll know exactly where the music pauses and the Amazon Trio speak. Yes, you will hold a silly pose until the music begins again and you go back to bouncing and clapping.

Placement ~Perfect. It occurs towards the very beginning of SuperS while the girls are having a picnic in the forest. It sets the stage for the senshi to be at the circus for the remainder of the musical. Why does the Amazon Trio suddenly appear in the middle of the forest and break out into song? It's Sera Myu, strange things like that are common place.

Memorable ~Extremely. The song is happy, fun and has the 'Wow wow' in the middle of it. Wether you like the song or not it truly stays in your head. This is one of those songs that you find yourself singing days after you've watched the video. It seeps into your brain and you will find yourself humming it.

Lyrics ~

It's business, it's our skill, our nice bodies! They only have bodies because that's how Zirconia created them. All three are quite vain and this line fits in with that theme. In any of these towns, we've successfully hit idiot humans We're too popular to wait too much, our bodies can't wait anymore Idiot humans, love it.

They are looking for Pegasus in unsuspecting humans. They are also going to be rewarded with a permanent body if they find Pegasus, they are on a time limit. "In the middle of all this" "It's necessary" "The lovely dreams waiting in this host" This is where the music pauses and the Amazon Trio speak. They are foreshadowing their mission. To find the person who has beautiful dreams.

Overall Rating

4 Hearts ~Although this is not one of my favorite songs, it is very catchy. The melody and lyrics fit perfectly and set the mood of the musical. I am only giving it 4 hearts because the Trio just randomly appear in the forest when the girls are lost. That part always seemed a bit "fishy" to me. This song fits in with a circus theme. It sets the story line for an entire musical. Without this song the girls wouldn't have any reason to audition for the circus. It needed to be happy and fun and Amazon Kara Circus ga Kita delivered!

Iron Mouse reviews Ai no Senshi

Tone/Mood ~This is the epitome of a 'gearing up to fight' song. You can feel the emotion building as the song progresses. There is a sense of urgency within the song, as if the senshi know that they need to win this fight to save the world.

Placement ~It fits perfect in episode 68 as it is a battle song and fits just as well in episode 102 where the song's urgency adds to the mood of the scene.

Memorable ~It wasn't very memorable to me. Several songs from Sailor Moon have the electronic pop sound and Ai no Senshi is one of them. It is a nice song but never stuck out to me.

Lyrics ~The lyrics to this song sum up the feeling of all the senshi. Leading a double life, girl at day and warrior by night. Every word to this song fits in with that but I will choose the lyrics I feel show that the best.

Being in love is misery A sweet dream that I was watching but I can't continue with it because of them Of course I'll have to take care of it I'll fight them with my own hands, their evil

Can't you just hear Usagi wanting to be at peace and just be in love with Mamoru? Unfortunately, there will always be evil in the world so she reluctantly must fight. Well we'll just do it ourselves won't we We'll show them the pure hearts of girls No matter what, we'll do our best This is our promise, we soldiers of love The above is the true motto of Sailor Moon!

Overall Rating

~3 hearts I honestly wish I could give this song a higher rating because the lyrics are so fitting to the entire Sailor Moon world but I can't. The melody is so easy to forget that I have to grade it so low. The lyrics alone are this song's saving grace.

Iron Mouse reviews Moon Revenge

Tone/Mood ~Perfect Sailor Moon song! It is happy and upbeat (like so many others) but without the overkill of cheesy synthesizer. It is very catchy and I often find myself singing "Moon Revenge, ooooooo"!

Placement ~It can be found as an ending theme song, at the end of the Sailor Moon R movie and my personal favorite, at the end of the Dreaming Moon special where the voice actresses sang live for a special Christmas treat. It is a lovely theme song as it is both memorable and tells the story of Sailor Moon.

Memorable ~I always see the actresses dancing in their matching '90s outfits when I hear this song. The music sounds like the girls are going off to battle at one point. To me, this is the most memorable ending song. It's fun!

Lyrics ~

I should start out that the name itself screams irony. What do villains want? Revenge on the Moon Princess so there is one meaning. What always happens? The senshi win so therefore they are the ones getting revenge.

I finally have it, a love I can hold on to A person I feel calm around when I close my eyes The daydream ending with a kiss In time's flower garden you left me behind

The very beginning of the song is about Serenity and Endymion on the Moon and having to leave each other. Starting in their past life an enemy was always trying to destroy them. This really is a beautiful song about love and destiny.

Overall Rating

5 Hearts This song really captures the purity of Serenity's love and the essence of the senshi needing to always be prepared to fight. It is an excellent addition to the Sailor Moon music collection and I am happy it was used as an ending song!

Iron Mouse reviews Friend

Tone/Mood ~When the song first begins it has the trademark Sailor Moon electric synthesizer. I know I groaned the first time I heard it because I figured it to be cheesy. Once the singing begins, the cheese factor subsides and it becomes a sweet song. Not quite an upbeat pop song and not quite a slow ballad, Friend falls in the middle. When you think of the 5 senshi singing this song to each other about how grateful they are for friendship the melody really works!

Placement ~As the closing song for the end of the final act of PGSM it is perfect. The battle has been won and the girls believe that they will be able to start a life free from fighting. Of course, this is Sailor Moon and that never happens. Friend is a nice wrap up song that embodies the entire season and the happiness the girls have had throughout all their struggles.

Memorable ~This song doesn't stick out in my head. If I hear it I do remember it, especially the slow part towards the end of the song. I wish it was more memorable for me because it truly is a nice song.

Lyrics ~As a character song for Hino Rei/Sailor Mars

I ran here With my dream I was searching It makes me think of Rei-chan running away from her father to her mother's grave. Fleeting sepia feelings Sealed up in a photo album Come back to me

Here she is wishing to have her mother back with her.

Thousands of feelings Vanish into the night sky I want to complete the things We can do only now I wanna be with you My best friend
Wow. How many times have I gone out and looked up at the sky believing that anything I say there will be heard only by my mother's ears? Rei-chan is suffering because her mother, her best friend was taken too soon.

Relating to all 5 girls:

I was searching With no time to look back every day This isn't a chance meeting Because of their destiny they were searching for each other although they didn't know it until the time was right. I want to have adventures, too Happening again and again Meetings and partings The nights of solitude finally over Inside the gentle winds Your smiling face is always the same

Each girl was essentially alone (save Usagi) and through their awakening as senshi they also became close friends. They not only fight enemies but they spend time together having fun.

Even if we start to walk down Separate roads Somewhere deep inside We're connected The magic words (miracle words) Race across the starry sky I really don't have to explain this part.

No matter where they go they will always be connected as senshi. If the call comes for them to fight they will be there.

I was smiling, shy of This thing called friendship Thanks for giving me This wonderful dream

This goes back to Naoko's original desire for her characters. Young girls called together by the bonds of destiny and duty who become the best of friends. That sums up all of Sailor Moon.

Overall Rating

4 1/2 Hearts It is a beautiful song with absolutely sweet lyrics. The vocals are very nice on this song also. I have to take a 1/2 heart off because it just isn't extremely memorable for me. I really wish it were but 10 minutes after I hear it, it floats out of my brain.

Iron Mouse reviews Double Moonlight Romance

Tone/Mood ~This is a lovely opening to this musical. Since it is based on ChibiUsa's dream the beginning of the song sounds as if a child is falling asleep and dreaming their beautiful dream. The whole song is reminiscent of a childhood we all had once where a pegasus would often visit our dreams.

Placement ~Being the opening song to the SuperS musicals, it fits perfectly. The first song of a musical needs to set the tone and guide the story line. Double Moonlight Romance tells the story of ChibiUsa's pure dreams that include Pegasus with a little pure hearted Usagi's dream of a perfect romance thrown in.

Memorable ~ You really can't forget the opening music to this song as it sounds like you're traveling through the stars. Another memorable part of the song is when they sing 'Moonlight Romance Wooooo'.

Lyrics ~

At last I've met her The beautiful girl I wait for in dreams Protected by the light of the moon A princess soldier Pegasus sings about the one with beautiful dreams that will release him from the prison Zirconia put him in.

He is clearly singing about ChibiUsa. When I bathe in moonlight I remember our love before we were born Endlessly this tender feeling Floods over me And I think of you, Why? Usagi sings of a love that was destined to be, any time or any place.

This is our fate, it hasn't begun yet Our connection in the past and in the future Will repeat over and over, a Moonlight Romance

Knowing that they will always be together, no matter how many times reborn.

Overall Rating

3 1/2 Hearts While this is a sweet 'love' song I am not a fan of ChibiUsa at all so I honestly cannot give the song a higher rating. It does have a nice melody and beautiful lyrics though.
