La Bunny's review of "Rashiku" Ikimasho

Tone/Mood This song is a guilty pleasure of mine.  It sounds distressingly electronic... it actually sounds a little like the demo on my first keyboard.  But I love it! It makes me feel cheerful and hopeful and all the things that it seems to be aiming for.

Placement I always watch the end credits in their entirety for SuperS episodes.  I think it's a great place for this song.

Memorable Definitely.  I have been known to issue bursts of "LA LA LA never give up!" on numerous occasions.

Lyrics Everything Takeuchi-sensei writes is perfect!

...oh, you wanted an opinion on the lyrics themselves, right? Well, I think they definitely capture the spirit of the Inners.  I think it would have been entertaining for Usagi and Minako to sing this song.

Overall Rating

Four.  No matter how much I enjoy this song, I can't give it five hearts because it just isn't, from a technical standpoint, that good.

La Bunny's review of Unmei wa Utsukushiku

Tone/Mood: This song feels like Neptune.  I can hear water in it (metaphorically), green and sparkling.  The melody is sweet, and Katsuki-san's relaxed singing style is well-suited to the style as well as the character.  I didn't like the arrangement at first, but it's growing on me as I listen to it with the mental image of sun on the water.

Placement: I think this song would have worked well in the SuperS special.  It might have seemed out of place in the regular season, just because its Outer influence is so b.

Memorable: Only somewhat memorable for me.  I enjoy listening to it, and I might hum along, but I can't see this song getting stuck in my head the way so many others do.

Lyrics: This song has absolutely stunning lyrics.  I can't think of anything to say about them other than, "They're beautiful."

What kind of sadness could hold me still

So that I can never again turn around

If you're here with me

Overall Rating:

The more I listen to it, the more I like it... but I don't love it yet.

La Bunny's review of Sakura Fubuki

Tone/Mood: I loved this song from the very beginning.  The arrangement gives it a Latin jazz feel, mixed with the superficial polish of J-pop.  This mixture makes the song sound sultry yet young and almost childish, even before the lead vocals start.  Keiko-chan's performance is fantastic on this number.  I love everything about it.

Placement: I liked the way this song was used in the story, because it's a good showcase piece for Keiko-chan's voice.  Seeing the tense miko open up and learn to perform was also worthwhile.  I only wish the song had made another appearance, to put more emphasis on the lyrics.

Memorable: Absolutely.  This is one of the top songs in the entire Sailor Moon repertoire, and easily one of the best from PGSM.

Lyrics:

There's no such thing as God / But I want to believe in something

This is my favourite line in any Sailor Moon song, ever.  Two reasons: first, you could never get away with it on North American children's television; second, it's a sentiment I understand and can relate to.  As a whole, I think the lyrics in "Sakura Fubuki" are delicate and deeply moving.

Overall Rating:

I'm giving this song five hearts, in spite of the fact that I think it was underused, because I believe it's strong enough to stand alone.
