Queen Beryl - Molly

Tone/Mood

I like the mood of the music. It seems all sorts of floaty and happy in the beginning.

Memorable

I wouldn't exactly call it memorable, since it starts to sound like all the rest of his stuff, but it does happen to be in mostly englsih from what I could tell, which knocks it up on the memorable scale..

Lyrics

From what I can tell, the lyrics are all in english, but its very hard for me to distinguish what they all are. But from what I can tell, its about how he loves some one, and can't wait to hold and touch them. Kind of romantic, if you think about it.

Overall Rating

I'd give this song a 4 out of 5, since he actually shocked me by making a song in english.

Kuroki Mio - Kara

TONE/MOOD:

This falls into Angry White Boy, except Endo isn't a white boy. Still, he's obviously been listening to it a bit. He sings it well, but it's too angsty. There's only so much angst you can put into an orchestration before it becomes annoying.

PLACEMENT:

N/A

MEMBORABLE:

Kinda sorta. But not highly.

LYRICS:

I think he's singing in English. I told you to enunciate more, Endo. But here, I honestly don't think the lyrics matter much. It sounds more like a mood piece.

OVERALL:

2 out of 5. I hear this sort of thing on the radio as I drive to work. Endo can be so much more innovative than this, as evidenced by songs like RAVENS' CRYING. He doesn't need to fall into this sort of stereotype.

Sailor Uranus - G.E. Artemis

Tone/Mood:

I clicked on the lyrics page for this and I went, “WTF? Is it all in English?” Then I listened to the song and cracked up. I, for one, love mangled Engrish, and this was one of the best I’ve heard. First off, the intro is totally awesome. Then it gets into the guitars, and then the Engrish. His voice is a little creepy in this to me.

Placement:

Again, I don’t know if it’s on Deep Under or a different album.

Lyrics:

It’s a pretty short song (or at least the sample is; I don’t know if that’s the full song or not), but the lyrics are really good.

I stand alone in my room
Thrilling is this moonlight
Wondering why I was born
Wondering why I stay here

Close my eyes to feel you
The love for myself so new
I feel like I'm floating here

I feel so free in the air
It’s good to me
In the air
It’s good to feel
Air

This sounds like it could be a love song to me. Like, falling in love for the first time.

Rating:

At first I was going to give it a four, but I figured I might as well go the whole way and give this a five XD Well done.

Sailor Neptune - Ruth

Tone/Mood

WTF? Organ pipes and a keyboard and guitar and drums. Heavy metal again. AND THE SINGING IS BACK. In English no less. Well most of it. It's really hard to listen to. Eck! HAHAHAHAHA I jumped out of my seat when the loud part hit. ^^; I'm not sure what to call this song as it's confusing to me. Is it hard rock? A love ballad (though it's not slow...but the lyrics...gah!)? I'm just gonna end it there.

Placement

Not used in the show.

Memorable

No.

Lyrics

"I stand alone in my room
thrilling is this moonlight
wondering why I was born
wondering why I stay here

close my eyes to feel you
the love for myself so new
i feel like i'm floating here
I feel so free in the air
its good to me
in the air
its good to feel

air
air
air"

All English used, rather that's what is heard. Thanks to Molly for having the good listening skills we lesser mortals lack. xD I couldn't understand most of it but from the above the lyrics are another poem. I have written similar ones so to me, the lryics are saying "why am I here on this earth? why am I alive" sort of thing.

The song sounds dark in the way that the "air" represents falling and yeah I think most of you can come to my conclusion on what I think the song is about. If not, well sorry. I won't mention it as it's not the point. :P

Nice lyrics but confusing song.

Overall Rating

1/5! Lyrics are the only thing I liked about the song. The music and singing just sucked. End of story.

Tuxedo Mask - Kero-chan

Tone/Mood:

Bizarre the whole melody is very strange am sounds like some gothic rock song. It is in English, a big effort for Endo to sing a whole song in English (even though it is quite short). This song is kind of the type that is like short, strange and somehow poetic.

Placement:

Yoshito's band album.

Memorable:

It will be memorable just because he sang the song in English.

Lyrics:

I like the whole lyrics, as I said before they are like dark, gothic and bizarre. After hearing stuff like Raven's cry and Natsu toki ame (rock and piano) this one is definitely something good and different. Good Job Endo-san.

I stand alone in my room
Thrilling is this moonlight
Wondering why I was born
Wondering why I stay here

Close my eyes to feel you
The love for myself so new
I feel like I'm floating here

Overall Rating:

5/5, because it is something different, it shows us that Endo-san can make music (even though he needs to polish his styles to sing hard-core rock XD;)

Sailor Mars - De'Angelo

Tone/Mood

When the song first starts, it is very relaxing. It seems like a reflection song on something. It also seems like the song is calling someone... I don't now, could hardly hear the voice at normal volume. xD

Who couldn't remember this song? It's very catchy. After I paused this review to do other things I had to do, this song kept coming up in my head. I kept saying to myself, "I've GOT to see the lyrics and try to learn it!" I'll see if I can find this CD for sale when I can get it. ~.^

Lyrics

I love the lyrics! It's such a short song, though. The lyrics seem to be too short, but they aren't. Looking at the lyrics, I guess I was right. It is a sort of reflection, but then it seems to be trying to attract someone. "Close my eyes to feel you" - this line supports my belief of it trying to attract someone. However, my favorite stanza is:

I feel so free in the air
its good to me
in the air
its good to feel

I love these words because it describes how air carries things - freely. The song seems to float in air, I think. Also, when you go through the lyrics, it goes from standing still to floating in the air. I see this as a fantastic technique, as I use this in my own poems/song lyrics.

Overall Rating

I give this song a 4 out of 5! I love the song and it's lyrics, but the song is too short for me. I'm more used to songs that are at least 3 minutes long. I know that's a small factor, but that's just what I think. Okay, there's my review for "Air".

Dark Sailor Mercury - Ilse

Tone/mood

Fingers in your ears! That was the first I thought, but after the first tone I changed my mind. Bad idea, after the intro I was deafer then before. The song is very good, I still can hear that!

Memorable

Hard to say because this is only a sample

Lyrics

I stand alone in my room

I feel so free in the air

Ok, this isn't very much lyric But it's good! This gives really a meaning to the title!

Overall rating

5 hearts! Good song, I want to hear more of it.

Princess Serenity - Elly

Tone/Mood

The opening sounds like it's going to be a bit techno-ish and very soft. Wrong impression obviously; this song is pretty hard rock, like most of Yoshito's other work.

Placement

DEEP UNDER by Amber Dust, the band that Yoshito Endo is lead vocalist and pianist for.

Memorable

Meh, the fact that he's speaking English is kind of interesting. I guess I remember the song for that reason alone, and because I harassed Molly to write the lyrics out while I was doing all kinds of other site work. Poor Molly, I torture her xD

Lyrics

I stand alone in my room
thrilling is this moonlight
wondering why I was born
wondering why I stay here

Very pretty lyrics. It's very much like poetry. I'm surprized that Endo's English is good enough to make better poetry than me. I guess he's a born poet though, right? Heh...

Overall rating

Meh. This song would be better if it were longer. I'm not sure if the song is meant to be a short interlude, or if what we're all listening to is just a sample. Either is possible.

Sailor Saturn - Miri-chan

Tone/Mood

Ooh! A cute introduction! This sounds nice... even the guitar and drums don't bother me much. But the way Endo sings in this song sounds almost sinister and evil... nothing like the music and lyrics are like.

Placement

Yoshido Endo's album Deep Under

Memorable

For the fact that it's English

Lyrics

close my eyes to feel you
the love for myself so new
i feel like i'm floating here

I applaud you, Yoshido-san. Finally you can get lyrics that match the music.

Overall Rating

3 out of 5 hearts. Just because of the lyrics and introduction.

Sailor V - Jessica

Tone/Mood

The notes and tone at the beginning make it sound as though its going to be a more gentle song that it is, and though the same tones continue for some of the track, the mood changes completely when they're gone. To me, the tone is neither positive nor negative, the song is just an exclamation, a statement.

Placement

None in PGSM

Memorable

Not really, unfortunately I'd rather prefer to forget it.

Lyrics

wondering why I was born
wondering why I stay here

I'm sure everybody has had these thoughts at least once in their life and its nice to see them in a song. They seem to stand out from the others and somehow seem out of place.

Sailor Luna - Emo-chan

Tone/Mood

Wow English! Im shocked a bit. I like the sound of this song though. It sounds punkish. It has a kind of "Im angry at the world" sort of feeling to it.

Memorible

Sure. I like the sound of it, and the fact that it is in english makes it a plus.

Lyrics

I love the words to this song.

close my eyes to feel you the love for myself so new i feel like i'm floating here

Very awesome! Best part of the song.

Overall rating

A 4. I like the fact that its in english, and the opening and ending reminds me of a video game!

Sailor Pluto - Sailorasteroid

Mood:

This is an odd little anime about a magical puppeteer who . . . eh? Oh, the *song* Air. Um, has a nice opening, then goes into a heroin-chic anthem.

Placement:

not on my hard drive, I'll tell you.

Memorable:

Well, I'll probably remember it for being in English.

Lyrics:

Not bad work on the English. Maybe I'll listen to it one more time to try to decipher the eighth line.

Overall:

More whining, but at least it starts with a melody. Two.

Nephrite - Frosted_Rain

Tone/Mood

Nice intro! Probably the song with the good intro of Endo-san's album. Gothic mood mixed with rock. Sometimes this kind of combination is good or bad. You decide.

Placement

Memorable

Subliminal messaging? That's what I think as I read the lyrics of the song. A suicide song? I hope it's not.

Lyrics

Can't hear much of the gibberish talk during the end (Linkin Park style of singing). So free as the AIR, that's what is all about in my opinion (special thanks to Molly's super hearing skills).

Overall Rating

4/5 Ony a few japanese artists can sing fluent english songs (Rie Fu, BoA, L~Arc~en~Ciel, Utada Hikaru). On this version, he imitates the style of Linkin Park's singing style. I hope the final copy of this song is not full of AIR.
