Break Through

Sailor V - Jessica

Tone/Mood

The tone really doesn't seem to match the lyrics. I would expect the song to be a little slower and sung with more emotion. However, as the title suggests, it works as a person being detached from events and moving on. The track just seems bland and there's almost no specific mood; you could turn it into whatever you wanted depending on your own mood.

Placement

None in PGSM

Memorable

I think it's a little too bland to be that memorable.

Lyrics:

Two people sometimes
Go their separate ways
This is one of those splitting times
But I want to believe
I always believed
Something good will happen in time

These are my favourite out of the lyrics. Its accepting and moving on and not being bitter about the past, which is a state people have to reach to 'break through' and move on.

Overall rating:

Dark Sailor Mercury - Ilse

Tone/Mood:

Very long intro, but that's normal if you listen to a song sung by Moeco. If she sings the first line, she sounds a bit like Chieco! Further The melody is not really my style In fact, it isn't my style at all. I don't like it. Curse whoever wrote the melody ( I think that they aren't announced on the lyrics because they where too ashamed to say that it was their melody!

Placement:

On the "Hello" single

Memorable:

No! It's lame, and boring!

Lyrics:

The ring of the telephone shatters the illusions
I can't stop the memories even with all my strength
Little reminders break the silence of thought
Now I can only see your back turned to me

I cross my legs
I move them a little
I can't catch up at all
That won't change

In the crowd I hear
Your name being read from a book
As I enter this place
I take off my zuri sandals

Oh come on! These lyrics are dull!!! I guess they didn't found more subjects to sing about, so they started singing about taking ZURI SANDALS off!

Overall rating:

Only one tiny heart. NOT a good song. Blah!!!

Tuxedo Mask - Kero-chan

Tone/Mood:

I like very much this month songs, they were really nice to hear; Moeco's voice is so tranquil and smooth. I can imagine listening 'Break Through' live on a Lounge Bar, lights dim and Matsuhita lighted in one corner of the place. I can't describe the rhythm; I just really find it so relaxing hehe. The background choruses make a good complement to Moeco's voice. It is a perfect song to hear in a sunny, rainy or windy day ^^.

Placement:

You can fin this song in the B-side of her 'Hello' single.

Memorable:

This is the second song I hear from Matsuhita Moeco, the first one was 'Ame'. I don't know which one came first but her voice shows some evolution from Ame; it sounds more mature and so nice to the ear. It can be memorable because of the different rhythm, the nice choruses and the peaceful voice of hers.

Lyrics:

I really like the lyrics for this song, I was deciding between three paragraphs but this one *I think* really shows the essence of the song:

Two people sometimes
Go their separate ways
This is one of those splitting times
But I want to believe
I always believed
Something good will happen in time

On this song, I think that Matsuhita is showing us that she can move on from a failed romance and, even though she is fighting, she is still having some thoughts about the rupture. This one last paragraph, being the end of the song, gives a closure to her feelings for him, telling us that she is ready to move and, and destiny has something special for her.

Overall Rating:

Excellent song, I liked it a lot and I enjoy it every time I hear it; sometimes I play this one more than once XD. 5 stars of course!

Sailor Saturn - Miri-chan

Tone/Mood

Very calm and soothing. The way Moeko sings is also rather nice, and it flows very well with the music. The chorus segments, with the overlapping voices, is also very beautiful. This is just a calming song. It would be wonderful played as an ending song for a movie or something. Ballad-style. I can just picture someone dancing on the ocean while the wind blows. I guess that's how the music is; watery.

Placement

Moeco's single Hello

Memorable

I think in time, it will grow on me. I've already fallen in love with the chorus, and it has an easy melody that you can sing without too much trouble.

Lyrics

One word. BEAUTIFUL!

Two people sometimes
Go their separate ways
This is one of those splitting times
But I want to believe
I always believed
Something good will happen in time

Definitely my favourite segment out of the whole song. It seems almost sad, yet hopeful at the same time.

5 out of 5 hearts, straight and simple.

Sailor Uranus - G.E. Artemis

Tone/Mood:

Well, this is the first Moeko song that I ever listened to. That first time, I discovered my love of Moeko’s voice XD This song’s really easy to listen to, no annoying bits that would distract you from anything else you’re doing. It’s a little bland, though, nothing too deep.

Placement:

Matsushita Moeko’s Hello single.

Memorable:

It is to me because it was my first Moeko song. Other than that, not really.

Lyrics:

I realized before I started writing this review that I hadn’t read the lyrics yet o_0; After I did, I found them rather random and dull. Throughout the song, I couldn’t really tell what the message was. The last stanza, though, was perfectly clear-

Two people sometimes
Go their separate ways
This is one of those splitting times
But I want to believe
I always believed
Something good will happen in time

If they’d followed that same theme through the rest of the song, the lyrics would have been a lot better.

Rating:

Fun to listen to, but nothing spectacular or deep, which is what I prefer.

Kuroki Mio - Kara

TONE/MOOD:

This is sort of light, but still sort of emotional. It's a hard balance to achieve, but here, we get it. It's almost got that anime ED feel to it. I could have done without about half the backing chorus that's actually there, but it had a nice, easygoing feel to it.

MEMBORABLE:

About halfway there.

LYRICS:

These are ... well ... about as cute and sweet as you'd expect from the tone. They really do fit right with it.

Two people sometimes
Go their separate ways
This is one of those splitting times
But I want to believe
I always believed
Something good will happen in time

The song conveys a level of optimism buried under some pretty strong feelings ... and the lyrics really mesh well with those.

OVERALL:

3 out of 5. It's a good song, but not one I'd listen to over and over.

Sailor Luna - Emo-chan

Tone/Mood

Very pretty sounding. Reminds me a little of a song style from the early 90's. The tempo is really catchy, making the words go really well.

Placement

Memorible

I don't think it's that memorible for me. If I knew Japanese more, i could rememebr the words, because the song is catchy.

Lyrics

I love these lyrics, they are imaginative and very pretty.

The ring of the telephone shatters the illusions I can't stop the memories even with all my strength Little reminders break the silence of thought Now I can only see your back turned to me

I think that Is my favorite verse of the song. The first line is beautiful!

A 3. I like the tempo and the beat, but other than that, nothing truely sticks out to me.

Sailor Neptune - Ruth

Tone/Mood

I feel as though this has some R&B in it at first listening. In fact after listening for over a minute, the tone does not change. I'm not feeling this song at all. Too bad as she has a really lovely voice and it's not working for this beat. ;_; *Yawns*

Memorable

Not for me. Sorry chicka!

Lyrics

"Two people sometimes
Go their separate ways
This is one of those splitting times
But I want to believe
I always believed
Something good will happen in time"

This is the only part of the song that makes like the song. For me, she's stating that as of now, they can't be together but in time, she hopes for the best. I kind of thought that the guy she's drooling over doesn't even know she exists. You deserve better!

Overall Rating

2 out of five. Again, this was too R&Bish for me, and as I like some R&B, I just didn't like this. Perhaps if the music was different, this song would of received a higher score, but nope.

Princess Serenity - Elly

Tone/Mood

Not a bad beginning. Reminds me a little bit of something you might hear from Kawabe Chieko. Very upbeat but slow moving at the same time.

Placement

"Hello" by Matsushita Moeko

Memorable

No, but it's a good song.

Lyrics

Two people sometimes
Go their separate ways
This is one of those splitting times
But I want to believe
I always believed
Something good will happen in time

Break up song, much? Moeko is really trying to get over this guy. Seems like she's got a good plan for it...

Overall Rating

This song is alright. Very good if you're in a mellow mood, and just looking for some light background music. I enjoy it for that alone =)

Nephrite - Frosted_rain

Tone/Mood

Long intro (0:23 when Moeco sings) and long ending (3:52 when Moeco finishes singing) with a track time of 4:20. Slow moving and slow paced. The theme of the song is about breakups. For those who just wants to listen to this song, also good for restless nights (good song to make you sleep).

I was almost dead when I came for work while I was finishing this review. Song made me sleep. It was good, so good. (-_-) zzz…

Lyrics

Two people sometimes
Go their separate ways
This is one of those splitting times
But I want to believe
I always believed
Something good will happen in time

Interesting lyrics. Most songs of heartbreak never tell about believing on 2nd time around. As my friend would say “Love will find a way.” (sometimes works, sometimes don’t)

Overall Rating

This song is suggested for those who are heartbroken and those who wish for a 2nd turn around hoping for a new love. Not good for me relating about love and breaking apart… 3 hearts at least for this song.

Sailor Pluto - Sailorasteroid

Mood:

Easy listening. The kind of stuff you hear on the mid-90s range of the FM dial. But Moeco has a sweet voice.

Placement:

I put it in c:\downloads\reviews\b&b\Moeco\break-through.mp3

Memorable:

No. It needs a hook. There’re some cute bird sounds, but nothing in the music itself to draw you in.

Lyrics:

Welcome to J-pop hell. Sometimes I think they’re just flipping to random pages of the dictionary and writing whatever word their finger lands on.

Overall:

Points are awarded for sounding nice. But it’s not breaking into the upper echelons any time soon. Three.
