Kuroki Mio - Kara
Tone/Mood
The single line of strings in the first few seconds gives the whole thing an appropriate sense of foreboding. The second piece, in a weird way, reminds me of Orthodox Church music, although the mood of that one is a bit harder to pin down; it's very reliant upon the scene in which it's played. The third one is a lot more straightforward, but it's a bit too theatrical, in my opinion.Placement

2 out of 5. It makes good use of a single melody line, but the full orchestration is a bit too self-aware.
Sailor Mars - Cele
Tone/Mood
Dark, sort of sad, maybe foreboding. The first part of the song was mediocre. It sort of felt to me like the string instruments weren't used to their full potential. It could have been better. The second part is by far my favorite. The Clarinet solo has beautiful tone, and the strings add to it. But at the end, the harp sort of ruined it, like you have something gorgeous and then something happy-sounding came into it. The third part was extremely dramatic. If one heard it alone they might not like it, but if the series is watched first, this would bring back a lot of memories.Placement

Some of the tones were gorgeous, but by itself it might sound really rough.
