ARCHIVED HTML - Hoshi Furu Yoake (Star Sprinkled Dawn)

Hoshi Furu Yoake (Star Sprinkled Dawn)

Topaz - Sailor Mercury

Tone/Mood

The tone of this is an upbeat as a slow song can get. The mood of this is kinda calming and smooth.

Placement

Nope, just the CDs

Memorable

Not really. Just nothing that gets you hooked

Lyrics

If the stars shine through the darkness and answer my prayer
OK this seems to me that the song writers got lazy and used the same words from Sweet Little Resistance

My single wish, to unlock my spirit
I don't know if its just the word spirit or something else but it just cries out Rei

Overall Rating

I would only give this a one, if even that. I don't care for this song and go to the next track most of the times when it comes on.

Ilse - Dark Sailor Mercury

Tone/Mood:

Yes This is one of my favorites. The beat is very relaxed. Keiko sings it beautiful. I don't get it why people think this song is dull. I like the melody. Keiko has more singing talent than acting sometimes (Keiko can't cry, my gosh it's very fake).

Placement:

Not in the series, movies, unfortionally.

Memorable:

Memorable Well, I think no. The song doesn't appear in the series and I think too many think to negative about this song. That's too bad, because if you listen very carefully too it, and if you read the lyrics translated, the song is very good.

Lyrics:

That time, you gave to me the strength to go through life alone
Everything came from your smile
If the stars shine through the darkness and answer my prayer
My single wish, to unlock my spirit

Yep, the lyrics are okay. Only one thing. Almost all pgsm songs are about sitting and gazing and that sort of stuff. After a while it's getting dull.

Overall rating:

I give it 4 hearts. I like everything, I know. I don't know myself why it is just 4 hearts. May be the song is missing something for my feeling. I don't get it by myself. Or may be it's the lyrics. May be it's already getting dull for me.

Alexander - Prince Endymion

Tone/Mood:

I don't love "Hoshi Furu Yoake" like "Sakura Fubuki", but I think it's okay. Its melody is not very fast, but I, unlike other people, like some slow songs - like "Katagoshi ni Kinsei". This song is different, I listen to it, but I wouldn't rate it as a favourite one. I think the mood is a bit slow and calming and it doesn't have the beauty of "Katagoshi ni Kinsei".

Placement:

This song was only on the PGSM CDs, but that's not too bad. I don't think it would fit somewhere in the acts.

Memorable:

No, perhpas just for me. TOO slow and as I said, I don't find anything exciting in it.

Lyrics:

The lyrics are good, I think. Most of the words make me remember Rei. They are a bit romantic also, that's good!

Overall Rating:

2 hearts. I told you, that's not my favourite song. Its melody doesn't make me dance, neither remember something.

Sailor Neptune - Ruth

Tone/Mood

A slow song. Very different from 'Sakura Fubuki'. Maybe a slow dance can be done with this song. And I find it too boring.

Placement

Erm....I don't think this was ever used in PGSM.

Memorable

In PGSM-no. If you like the song then I guess so but since it was never used in the show how will people know unless they bought/downloaded the CD?

Lyrics

Through the gaps in the buildings bleeds the silver moon/
Maybe it would be okay to cry just a little/
Time flows on without healing wounds/
But I'm waiting for dawn/...

The lyrics suggest that Rei is still in the grieving process. It's been awhile since her mother died but who can really get over that?! The lyrics are really beautiful but I just don't like the song itself. Just a personal thing.

Overall Rating

3 hearts. A slow ballad and nothing at all like her last single, 'Sakura Fubuki'. Rei fans may enjoy this song for it's lyrics or maybe how Keiko sang it, but for me the song wasn't done right. >.>

Elly - Princess Serenity

Tone/Mood

A very mellow, slow moving kind of song. This is the perfect mix between songs that are too hyper, like Over Rainbow Tour, and too slow, like Sayonara~Sweet Days (I'm not saying I didn't like that song, I liked it a lot, but it was rather slow moving). This song is very 'Japanese', and by that I mean that it's very polite, and very soft spoken. Not at all like Rei.

Placement

This song was not used in the PGSM episodes. It is on Sailor Mars's character album.

Memorable

Not incredibly memorable for non-obsessive fans of PGSM. Even for those who craze about the music, this song is so soft and polite that I don't feel that it would easily stick in your mind.

Lyrics

Now, here's what I really love about this song. The lyrics are just *beautiful*:

I'll try proceeding on the road covered in cold morning dew
If I could share with someone the strength to go through life alone
I wonder if my memories would change too
The moon glows in the sky, guiding my wandering dreams
I can't sleep, shined upon by all the stardust

To me, this song is more about Rei than Sakura Fubuki is. Rei's sadness and her loneliness is very aparent in this song. Rei must stay alone because she feels that she must devote herself entirely to the study of her religion (Shinto) and to protecting the princess, however, she feels the sting of what it is to be alone. Usagi isn't alone, Makoto isn't alone, even Ami has her mother for comfort if it's really needed - but Rei is the only one who is really completely alone. Her devotion to staying on her lonely path is quite strong. This song really exemplifies her willingness to stay the way she is, even if she doesn't like it.

Overall Rating

This song is very pretty, and it really does show Rei's plight. However, this song just doesn't have lasting power. Sakura Fubuki, the ever popular counter to this song, really overshadows this jewel of a melody. Even if this song is beautiful and powerful, it is nothing if no one wants to listen to it. Myself included.

Frosted_Rain - Nephrite

Tone/Mood

One of the mellow songs featured on the PGSM album. A good song to listen for sleeping, relaxing and to calm those overused nerves. (Also good for those late night things).

Placement

Another song unrelated whatsoever to the PGSM series, or to the movie.

Memorable

It sounds it was sang by another JPOP singer. Though this song is sang by a top-Japanese model from Seventeen Magazine (Japan Edition). Can't relate to this song though except by my Kitagawa Keiko-crazy friend.

Lyrics

Hoshi ga kurayami wo nukete inori wo kanaeru no nara
Hitotsu dake negai wo kokoro no KAGI hazushite

Trully superb. Although I can't relate to the song, though the lyrics provided me the information to reflect and concentrate on what lies ahead (wow, ain't that cute... BUT I'M WRONG!!! DARKSIDE STILL PREVAILS!!) Oh well...

Overall Rating

As everyone would say, Keiko is A LOT BETTER TO BE A SINGER THAN A DRAMA ACTRESS. We've seen her good side (singing, modelling) and her bad side (bad acting on the crying thing. Miyuu fares better than her.) I give it 3 hearts.

Sailor Luna - Emo-chan

Tone/Mood

Very subtle and unique. Great use of instruments and Keiko's voice. I find this to be a very beautiful song.

Placement

I don't believe it was in PGSM at all. It was only in the cds.

Memorible

I think Sakura Fubuki will be a more memorible song because it was in PGSM, but this song is great for those true die-hard fans!

Lyrics

I love the words to this song. They are so powerful and magical!

Through the gaps in the buildings bleeds the silver moon Maybe it would be okay to cry just a little Time flows on without healing wounds But I'm waiting for dawn Someday, a warm place I want to become, so I'll try proceeding on the road covered in cold morning dew If I could share with someone the strength to go through life alone I wonder if my memories would change too The moon glows in the sky, guiding my wandering dreams I can't sleep, shined upon by all the stardust

I find them so poetic and mystifying!

Overall Rating

I'm gonna give this song 4 stars. Very good in ways of the lyrics and tone, I love it!

Tuxedo Mask - Kero-chan

Tone/Mood:

A really peaceful melody sang by Keiko-san. It is like a ballad with a cool electric guitar sound in the background. I think this song is for relaxing, or just to hear it in those rainy days, watching the street over your bedroom's window.

Placement:

Only in her character's single and the following PGSM albums. I can't think of a moment in the series where this song could have been placed; perhaps in some Minako/Rei moments. Even though I LOVE Sakura Fubuki, I think that this song's pace and lyrics resemble more to Rei's character.

Memorable:

Many negative comments about this song; you need to listen to it carefully, the lyrics fit well and the song may sooth your soul XD. I think that only Keiko's fans and truly PGSM fans will remember this song as Mars Reiko-san 2nd song. ^---^;

Lyrics:

"I have no choice but to proceed from here with my own feet
You started in me the strength to go through life alone
Everything came from your smile
If the stars shine through the darkness and answer my prayer
My single wish, to unlock my spirit"

I think this is my favorite part. Call me crazy but maybe Rei is singing this song to someone special in her heart (perhaps her beloved mom Risa). After all, her mother gave her all the strength to keep on going even without her. Yes people, this is definitely a Rei's image song.

Overall Rating:

Good song, good lyrics, good everything. The only thing is that after a while of hearing to it, you'll just want to jump to another song in your music player. I give this a song 4 star rating.

Jessica - Sailor V

Tone/Mood

The mood is gentle and calming, with a beat that tries to speed up the pace of the song, but sometimes just seems out of place.

Placement

Not used in any of the PGSM episodes.

Memorable

Having not been used in any of the Acts, unless you really like this song and listen to it a lot, I don't think its really memorable. I always just think of it as the 'other' Rei character song, but that's most likely because I don't care for the track myself.

Lyrics

The lyrics are very good and descriptive, with some emotive lines and good use of language, and it helps that it very much makes sense in either language.

Overall Rating

Ephie - Zoicite

Tone/Mood

This song, to me, gives off a feeling of lethargy. This is also one of the songs I never skip in my CD. As much of a sucker as I am for Ayaka, I'm one for Keiko as well. She has a nice soothing voice, I think.

Placement

I think it's just on the CDs again.

Memorable

I can only remember me having this song stuck in my head right after getting out of the car from listening to it, but it really just makes me want to listen to it more to remember it that much better.

Lyrics

They fit Rei's character very well. "Maybe it would be okay to cry just a little" has to be one of the most memorable lines to me, and I really can't understand why, but I remember the song by this one line.

Overall Rating

I just have a nice overall feeling about this song. I give it a four. I'm a little uncertain about the tambourines in the background, but I think they belong there more than I realize.

Sailor Uranus - Nickole

Tone/Mood

Hm...... the beat of this song is very soothing, and pretty, I'd have to say its not a perfect tone but, its still OK.

Placement

You hear it on the PGSM soundtrack CD's.

Memorable

Its not a song that I'd remember in my head, but It has very pretty lyrics.

Lyrics:

Through the gaps in the buildings bleeds the silver moon
Maybe it would be okay to cry just a little
Time flows on without healing wounds
But I'm waiting for dawn
Someday, a warm place I want to become, so
I'll try proceeding on the road covered in cold morning dew
If I could share with someone the strength to go through life alone
I wonder if my memories would change too
The moon glows in the sky, guiding my wandering dreams
I can't sleep, shined upon by all the stardust

These lyrics are very beatiful, their pretty much the only good thing about the song.

Overall Rating

I'll give it a 3, because its not a great song, but its still pretty good. :)

Ciao - Sailor Pluto

Tone/Mood

I think I would have liked this song more, given the translations of the lyrics and how it starts out, if it had stayed more like it started out, instead of turning into some sort of rock/pop thing. It seems to fit more as a slow ballad- y type song to me and it just didn't....feel right, the way it ends. I'm not sure I really like it.

Placement

Character single not in the show.

Memorable

It could have been memorable but the quality of singing is lacking, as is her confidence. The music/lyrics don't really interact that well to me to what they could be and it takes away from the whole listening experience.

Lyrics

I don't really feel that the lyrics fit with the rock/pop feel of the song at all. It seems to be more of a ballad than a pop song and therefore feels wrong to me somehow. The lyrics are really lovely, it's just a shame that they're set to the wrong type of music, in my opinion.

Overall Rating

I don't rate this song very highly - a 2 - because it doesn't even remotely come close to showing off Kitigawa-san's potential enough. She doesn't sound confident and the music just takes away from that. A really disappointing end to a promising starting song...

Sat - Sailor Saturn

Tone

I am not a fan of Keiko's singing voice as it is a bit TOO deep for me, and frankly with how deep it is, it reminds me of Mai Watanabe's voice... meaning it doesn't do it for me. Hense this song is something that I would skip over on my cd.... That being said, you can tell that I am eluding to the tone being rather bland and too subdued.

Placement

Its a character single and I can see why. Where the hell would you fit this bland thing into the series?

Memorable

I am wiping it from ALL memory banks currently.

Lyrics

The lyrics are similar to other songs... much better songs....

Overall Rating

1 Heart. It is a sympathy heart for our idol that wears booty shorts and white boots.

Kaitlin - Kuroki Mio

Tone/Mood

This song starts out almost depressing you. It's your standard ballad. Keiko-san is a beautiful singer. The chorus really kicks it up and makes me start to feel the song. I can tell Keiko is trying to impart some sort of wisdom to us through song. Back to the mellow verse and chorus again. Not a bad song but aside from the chorus the music doesn't really move me.

Placement

Found on Keiko's "Hino Rei / Sailor Mars" single. I can't imagine where they'd use this in the show... The chorus has me imagining her and Venus finally working together to defeat a Youma and sharing a tender moment or something.

Memorable

It's okay. Doesn't stand out as the best song in the bunch.

Lyrics

The lyrics do prove themselves to be meaningful. Translated, you get: Honestly, in my warm heart I want to wait for dawn, but I have no choice but to proceed from here with my own feet That time, you gave to me the strength to go through life alone Everything came from your smile If the stars shine through the darkness and answer my prayer My single wish, to unlock my spirit Now, I've never understood someone's "warm heart" but the song is telling young girls it's okay to be alone and stand strong. A good message.

Overall Rating

I give this a 3 as well. The vocals and chorus are lovely, but the song is lacking a way to keep me interested in hearing it.

Tobias - Sailor Venus

Tone/Mood

This song has nice beat... its fun and easy to listen to... Kitagawa-san's vocals are good in this one as well...

Placement

It was only on various PGSM albums... and heard in the Dear my Friend commercial... but alas, I think this song wouldn't fit within the confines of an act... it would seem out of place.

Memorable

I listen to it... I usually have it paired a couple tracks away from "Sakura Fubuki" when placed on a mix cd or on my MP3 player... (Which at present has SeraMyu and PGSM songs on it) and it is memorable... just not as much as "Sakura Fubuki"... at least when you think of a Hino Rei song.

Lyrics

I particularly like this part: "Tsuki wa sora ni kagayaite samayou yume michibiku no Nemurenai subete no hoshikuzu tachi terashite". It is a beautiful line... and the lyrics are good to listen to...

Overall Rating

4 out of 5... I really enjoy listening to this song... Kitagawa-san handles the song's pace and lyrics so well... it is easy to get lost in the song... (for me, anyway... ^^;)

Queen Beryl - Alexa

Tone/Mood

I don’t really like Keiko’s singing actually, the only singing I like is what she sung at the Hospital as Reiko Mars for Minako-chan. Truth be told, I don’t like this song at all, it’s very dramatic in a boring way and I’m not sure that even made sense .

Placement

Er It doesn’t really fit into anything in any of the Acts it makes sense why it’s a character single, I mean, if she had sung this as Reiko Mars at the Hospital, I swear, I would have ripped my speakers apart so I wouldn’t have to listen to it!

Memorable

Nothing comes to mind well ‘skip to next track’ does .

Lyrics

Those things are considered Lyrics? It’s more like some strange poem to me, but, anyway, some other lyrics come to mind of wayyy better songs!

Overall Rating

A two, it gets more than a 1, because that’s just cruel, because it is a pretty song sort of, but I really don’t like it the melody is very slow and . It sounds like something my Mummu (Grandma in Finnish) used to sing at church!

Joy Azama - Kunzite

Tone/Mood

I'm really sorry to the Keiko/Mars fans, but my initial impression to this song is not very good, this is when I played the Dear My Friend CD. I thought Keiko is depressed while singing it. I usually skip this song, however, since my sister's fave is Keiko, then I have to endure this song. I listened to it, and tried to appreciate it, but I really don't like it. IMHO, the problem is the tone of the chorus. It is like two totally different songs being combined; like a composer worked on the stanzas and the bridges, while another worked for the chorus (maybe to save time?). The result? a song with varying tempo that could be likened to a complicated EKG reading. However, I loved the tone of the stanzas. If they stayed with that melody, this song would have grown on me.

Placement

Never played on any of the 49 episodes of the series, special act, and live event; just on the records.

Memorable

Nope, not memorable for me.

Lyrics

I think the lyrics fit onto Rei's character, whether she's singing it in memory of her deceased mother, or Usagi, or Minako, or any of her close friends. I honestly don't know whom she's referring to "your/you" in:

"You started in me the strength to go through life alone"
"Everything came from your smile..."
"...you gave to me the strength to go through life alone"

I liked the following lyrics in terms of tone:

"BIRU no sukima kara nijimu gin no tsuki
Sukoshi nara naite mo ii no ka na
Kizu mo iyasazu ni toki wa nagareteku
Demo yoake wo matteru"

Keiko sang it beautifully IMO.

Overall Rating

I gave this a 1 out of 5 hearts. Simple, I don't like it. This song does not do any justice to Keiko's vocals.

Lauren - Sailor Mars

Tone/Mood

This Song Is Kinda Upbeat, But It Is Also Very Calm & Smoothing

Placement

It Was Only Used In The Cds

Memorable

To Me Not That Much, But Maybe Other People Might Like It.

Lyrics

That time, you gave to me the strength to go through life alone
Everything came from your smile
If the stars shine through the darkness and answer my prayer
My single wish, to unlock my spirit

These Lyrics Are Ok

Overall Rating

3 Stars To Me This Is Just Not The Cream Of The Crop Like Sakura Fubuki.

Laurana - Princess Sailor Moon

Tone/Mood

This song is so slow at first, and when it begins I just feel completely lonely. Seriously this song makes me feel so sad. I just do not like the sad feeling that comes with this song because it makes me miss my boyfriend, Johnny. Honestly I do not want to be reminded that I cannot see him. Other than that this song is very beautiful, and Kitagawa Keiko has a very beautiful voice.

Placement

Yet another song that was not in the show, but in the character single and in the PGSM cds.

Memorable

This song would more then likely be memorable if I listened to my PGSM cds more often. I really does make me think of Rei in a more personal way, and it shows us a different side of her.

Lyrics

The lyrics certainly do fit the lonely feeling I get from this song. I must say though that these lyrics an absolutely beautiful and in a way inspiring. Everything came from your smile If the stars shine through the darkness and answer my prayer My single wish, to unlock my spirit These lyrics really called out to me because this is exactly how I feel about my Johnny. Anyone who has been in love will more then likely be touched in some way by these lyrics. I for one think about loved ones when read the lyrics.

Overall Rating

4 out of 5 I gave this song a four because I do not like the lonely and depressing feelings it calls forth from my soul. I love the lyrics, the beat, and Keiko's voice is gorgeous. I just feel that if I want to be sad then I will do it just by thinking of Johnny, not by listening to a song.

Kuroki Mio - Kara

TONE/MOOD:

The disparities between the two styles they're mixing were a bit grating first - some of the percussion early in the verse seems really out of place. But it sounds a lot more reasonable in the chorus. This is the sort of tone I don't think we see enough of in songs of late - one that can be sentimental without being afraid of being slightly upbeat.

PLACEMENT:

Hino Rei's character single.

MEMORABLE:

It's not bad. I find myself humming the chorus quite a bit. It doesn't stick out in my head quite as much as, say, 'Sakura Fubuki.' But Rei seems to have the best pair of songs when it comes to character singles.

LYRICS:

I heard this almost as an ode to Minako, in ways. The 'learning how to live alone,' giving strength, and yet wanting to cry at the same time. The lyrics are applicable in so many directions.

OVERALL:

3 out of 5 ... some of the percussion bothers me, but overall it's nice to listen to.

Sailor Uranus - G.E. Artemis

Tone/Mood:

This one’s a lot quieter than Sakura Fubuki. I’m not normally a fan of the slower songs, but I love this. Well, I say slow, but the chorus picks up and gets a faster pace.

Placement:

Rei’s single. I don’t think this was used in the show at all.

Memorable:

Compared to Sakura Fubuki, it’s definitely not as popular, but that’s not to say it isn’t just as good.

Lyrics:

These lyrics are absolutely beautiful.

Through the gap in the window bleeds the silver moon
Maybe it would be okay to cry for just a little while
Time flows on without healing wounds
But I’m waiting for dawn

That sounds so much like Rei to me.

Rating:

Rei’s songs are the best. Yay!
