Princess Serenity - Elly
Tone/Mood
WOW! There's definately a good feeling when I put on this song. A rush of excitement vibrates through me since I know that a new (or at least, used to be new) episode is about to begin. The very first time I heard this song, I had just finished downloading the first episode of the series, which took me little over a week to do (I'm a dial-up user). I was very excited to see the new re-incarnation of Sailor Moon, and this song does a perfect job of delivering the new series in a form that older Sailor Moon fans could appreciate. This song is so happy, and brings feelings of a bright new start.
Placement
This song is absolutely wonderful as the opening song to Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon! I don't think I would have liked to see it anywhere else. I also enjoyed the song when it was played when the girls were finally becoming friends, since I really thought it gave across a clear feeling of the friendship and teamwork that it takes to be a sailor soldier. Kirari*Sailor Dream works very well as an opening since it's so upbeat and cheerful, just like the majority of the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series is.
Memorable
This song is very memorable! The song itself is synonymous with PGSM. A true fan of PGSM could not have gone through the entire series without hearing this song once. It's on every one of the DJ Moon Albums, and many different single releases of the song have been made. I don't think I could watch PGSM the same way without the existance of this song.
Lyrics
I think the only problem I have with this song are the lyrics. Naoko Takeuchi, the creator of Sailor Moon, has never had much of a talent for writing music or lyrics. This song is no exception. The meaning of the lyrics do not flow well together, and make very little sense. You get snippets of pretty ideas: sparkles, diamonds, moonlight, girls, what have you. There is nothing that ties the lyrics together and makes them coherent. I have this bent against Japanese songs that try to incorporate English phrases in the lyrics when they make no sense. This song is one of them. Why the Japanese feel it is appropriate to stick English in places it shouldn't be is beyond me. You'd think that with the amount of preparation that went into the making of this show, that someone would have made sure that the English in the song is grammatically correct within the context of the lyrics. I guess not. Whatever.
Overall Rating
Although I feel that the song is overall rather good, the lyrics stopped it from achieving five heart status in my eyes. Someone really should have taken a closer look at the lyrics before letting this song be made the opening. A few revisions in grammar and English appropriations should have been made. I feel that Kirari*Sailor Dream is an excellent song though, and that no PGSM fan should go without listening to it!
Sailor Neptune - Ruth
Tone/Mood
I think this new theme for Sailor Moon was a great idea to use, rather then "Moonlight Dentsu" as that song is old and is suited for the Anime. Since this is a new incarnation of "Sailor Moon" it needed a fresh new song. Nicely done. Also, no matter how many times I hear this song I will always bob my head and sing the lyrics. It's THAT catchy! "MEIKUAPPU sono toki Kirameki wo ageru Seeraa senshi sore wa Muunraito Riarugaaru" This line is my favorite! I mean who doesn't want to be a "Moonlight Real Girl?"
Placement
Like I mentioned before this song is a new series so a new song is fitting. Kirari*Sailor Dream fits perfectly as it's upbeat and original. The song was used for a few things that seemed "crucial", i.e. the five senshi fighting together for the first time. That gave me chills! I don't know why, but I really don't think any other song would of worked for that scene.
Memorable
A very memorable song indeed! Not only does it get stuck in your head, but it causes you to sing it when others aren't around! PGSM wouldn't be PGSM if this song wasn't used. I'm happy to say that this song will be a favorite of mine for a long time to come.
Lyrics
Ok so Kirari*Sailor Dream doesn't make much sense in English. Who cares right?! As long as it is catchy I'm willing to deal with the nonsense. Now the ONLY problem I have with the lyrics is the fact that Naoko-san put English words in the song. I wouldn't mind it but it just doesn't flow with the rest of the song. Other then that I don't have any complaints about the lyrics. ^_^
Overall Rating
I give this a rating of 4 hearts. It's an upbeat song with nonsense lyrics! This song is worth listening to over and over until your ears bleed! For all the new fans out there please listen to it and learn the song so you can sing to it!
Sailor Mercury - Topaz
Tone/Mood
This is a super happy sounding song. You hear in and you just got to sing. The mood of this song to me is sit down and shut up sailor moon is coming on, hehe. The second you hear this song you know you are about to see PGSM. You get happy and chills just run down your back. Its a good and fresh sound for Sailor Moon.
Placement
I think this fits very well as the opening. Being a song that get you ready you watch our loved senshi. And the dance you see them doing in the opening just makes it even better. It is hear a few other times. Such as the first time they all fight together. I didn't care for it placed there much myself.
Memorable
Oh gosh yes. Being the opening for PGSM give it a million memorable points! You hear it everywhere PGSM is, so it really just gets in to you head you never forget it. I love to sing with this song. Its easy to learn even if you don't know Japanese!
Lyrics
I know many feel the words do no fit to well but I feel its just right
A guardian running through the earth
Because it's me, I can fight this battle
I'll go make up, the sparkle is my forehead
I feel these words are just right. I'll go make up the sparkle is my forehead - this just yells to me henshin.
Overall Rating
I honestly give this song a 5 all the way! It fit the Sailor Moon world just right. Its a good tune with wonderful words and a so cute dance!!! need I say more? ^^
Sailor Saturn - Sat
Tone/Mood
This song is refreshing as far as an opening theme goes. Surprisingly I have heard it well over 500 times and I am still not bored with it. It has a fresh sound, with a great singer and it keeps you bouncing every time it comes on. No matter how many times you hear it you will still startting tapping your foot, or bobbing your head because once again, the Sailor Moon world has brought us something that is more addictive then crack.
Placement
You know, when I first heard about PGSM I was worried about what they would do with the music. I was rather tired of Moonlight Densetsu as an opening as I felt it was old, and even though the Sailor Stars theme was nice, I was hoping for something new. Low and behold, they gave us the ultimate opening song. Something that doesn't get old or annoying. Of all the PGSM songs that I have heard to date I would feel that this one is the best for an opening theme. None of the others fit well enough in my eyes, so KUDOS to whoever chose this as the opening theme.
Memorable
Didn't I already say that this song is more addictive then crack? Well it is! I know it will go down in the "Sailor Moon memories" folder that is stored in my brain for years to come.
Lyrics
I will admit that if you EVER read an English translation of Japanese music, it usually doesn't make much sense.... at least in the anime/sentai world. The lyrics to this song are no exception. Some of them are kinda off the wall in parts and have you scratching your head in others, but overall it doesn't detract from the song as we aren't hearing this song in English (beware if somebody ever dubs it), but rather the original Japanese. And as far as Japanese lyrics go, it fits the typical role.
Overall Rating
Only four hearts because the lyrics are quirky as always. Other then that, what is truly not to love?
Sailor Venus - Tobias
Tone/Mood
With Kirari*Sailor Dream... you definitely feel a happy and bouncy mood... When I hear it my mood changes. I first heard this on the show only it was only the tv version. One thing about this song is that it is so different is it doesn't grate on my nerves if I listen to it on a continuous basis. The song makes me glad to hear it... it also tends to cause me to (since seeing the Kirari Super Live and Super Dance lesson videos...) be reminded of the dance to it... in short... a very fun song to listen to!
Placement
I feel this song works well as an opening... it kind of unfolds the whole scene, as if to say "Hey! Its time to be pulled into the world of our beloved Bishojo Senshi!" I couldn't really see it anywhere else... vocally anyway... the instrumentals work fine where they are... like during the battle in Act. 35 between Endymion, Sailormoon and the Shitennou. What is so different about this song is that it is nothing like any of the Opening songs of Sailormoon... (Moonlight Densetsu and Sailor Star Song) But had this song been placed anywhere else, it may not have had the effect it has as an opening. All in all, a good song to listen too.
Memorable
Is this song memorable? Yes. I'd have to say that it is. I know it will lingers in my mind long after the show is over (or the cd track / MP3). It defitely fits the image of a Bishojo Senshi... Moonlight Real Girl... Sparkle in my Heart (which reminds me of Heart Crystals / Star Seeds) When it comes to this song... I say this unashamed... I sing it, at home, at work... on the way home. Thanks to technology I carry it (plus the Kirari remix and karaoke tracks among others) in my RCA Lyra mp3 player... and at work I have played my Pretty Guardian Albums... (DJ Moon 1, 2, 3, and Dear my Friend... plus mix albums) since my job is at the university, it is interesting to hear peoples reactions as they hear it. I have met people who have seen the show and also have songs and such to it. Which makes it even more so memorable.
Lyrics
The lyrics... They fit as well as most Japanese songs with English words in them can... when translated of course, most songs make no sense... mostly English words in these songs, tend to catch people's attention for an important word (I.E. Moonlight Real Girl. Everlasting Love. Guardian. All images that fit the Sailormoon story) With me I found the whole song to be captivating, but particularly the phrase, "Watashi da kara kanau yo starlight prayers! MEIKUAPPU shiyou yo Kirameki wa mune ni SEERAA senshi sore wa MUUNRAITO RIARUGAARU". That I feel is a phrase from the song which catches my attention the most. In terms of fitting in with the song... the lyrics flow smoothly with the music, and Naoko Takeuchi did a decent job of placing certain words in the context of the song. So yes the song works with its lyrics to a decent standard.
Overall Rating
I'd give Kirari*Sailor Dream! a 4 out of 5 hearts. This song is really good, and I really enjoy hearing the song... however,I still feel some of the song could have been different... like in the delivery... I really wonder (since Super Live) how a version of this song sung by all five actresses would have done compared to Sae's virtually flawless performance...
Sailor Mars - Teresa
Tone/Mood
This song has a very upbeat mood to it. If you're unhappy try listening to this song. It could cheer you up.
Placement
This song has great placement for the new Live-Action Drama. It gives this new seires a whole new look.
Memorable
The first song that ever played in "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon."
Lyrics
Like Sailor Saturn-san said, this song has lyrics that make no sense whatsoever, but, still catchy. I've memorized these lyrics for the T.V. Seires Size version.
Overall Rating
5/5 hearts! When I first listened to this song, I played it over and over again. It's a great song. If you haven't listened to it yet, I suggest you do.
Kuroki Mio - Justin
Tone/ Mood
When you listen to this song you automatically can sense Sailor Moon and the Sailor Senshi and their return as a new series and as a live-action too. Especially when the main chorus comes on, you can close your eyes and just think about a new ''moon''.
Placement
This song makes sense as the theme song for the new Sailor Moon Live series. I can't think of any other song that could replace it because the lyrics to this and sound just matches Sailor Moon so much.
Memorable
This will be remembered forever, when someone talks about Sailor Moon Live TV Series, automatically when they mention music someone will talk about this song and Sae singing it, it's on most of the PGSM CDs too! How could you forget about it?
Lyrics
This is the only PGSM song that I love the lyrics! Naoko Takeuchi (Sailor Moon creator) wrote them and she did a great job! The talking about sparkling, moonlight girls and diamonds matches Sailor Moon completely. Two thumbs up too Naoko Takeuchi for a great job on Kirari!
Overall Rating
5/5! This song OWNS Sailor Moon Live, if there was no Kirari then how could the series move on? It's a great and cheerful song that any PGSM fan will learn to love and probably sing in the car at one point in their life, hehehe.
Sailor Luna - Emo-chan
Tone/Mood
O.O This song is so beautiful! It has such a POW! to it. It has a definate form of energy that makes you wanna go out and help the senshi fight those nasty youma! I love the instruments used in this song and Sae's voice is so pretty. The Piano in it also a great touch of elegance to the song. Very great!
Placement
Well you know it's the theme song to the show, but it's also used when a big event happens, like when Sailor Moon discovers that Tuxedo Kamen is Mamoru(What a great moment!). It's a very fitting song and gives the show a new feeling of power and magic.
Memorable
This is the second song I think of when I hear PGSM. It is a very good theme song and it has the edge to make you remember it. The words will make you wanna remember it to! I mean:
Become me With a flash, sailor diamonds! A guardian born at daybreak Because it's me, they will come true Starlight prayers! Let's make up The sparkle is in my heart A sailor soldier, that is a Moonlight real girl
Those words give you strength. You can imagine the senshi fighting. That's why this song will be memorible for times to come.
Lyrics
I LOVE the words to this song! Of course, I know the Japanese words by heart(as with all the songs ^^) and i just LOVE singing it. Knowing that Naoko Takeuchi herself wrote the words give it a whole new flavor! She did such a great job with the words, and give sher senshi a new light through them. With phrases like:
Let's drive out the rivals Filling the daytime Instead of a smile or lips An eyebeam is my special weapon
and
Undo the ribbon on my sailor suit Because it's me, I don't need anything anymore
and
With a flash, sailor wings! A guardian running through the earth Because it's me, I can fight this battle I'll go make up, the sparkle is my forehead
You really feel like you are a senshi yourself! I know when I hear it I wanna Make Up and fight evil with the girls! Who wouldn't? But the words fit the show so much and I think we al know that ^_^
Overall Rating
A 5!!!! A definate 5!! I will always love Moonlight Densetsu for the anime, and Kirari Sailor Dream will always be in my heart for the live action. Both songs incorperate the feelings of the shows similarly and also differently. I mean, this theme song gives a more 3-dimentional feel to the world of the sailor soldiers, and you can feel it inside the song itself. This will always be on my top list of favorite PGSM songs!
Frosted_Rain - Nephrite
Tone/Mood
The first time I heard this song on the PGSM episode, I thought it would be corny like some other JPOP OST's I've heard. The song is lively and in upbeat. For me, this song is better than Sailor Moon Anime. The tune is not very "childish" compared to Sailor Stars OST in Sailor Moon Anime (pardon me, I'm a very picky guy concerning on JPOP's). During my weekly PGSM marathon schedule on my apartment, me and the guys (yes, men also watch PGSM and WE ARE PROUD OF IT) don't feel bad listening to it. One of us really sang it with all of his might (considering he looks like a drug addict). Considering Sawaii-chan and company sang the song on the opening, it also adds the mood of enjoyment while watching the series.
Placement
The placement of the song during the opening was good. Like Moonlight Dentetsu (Sailor Moon Anime), Kirari is a pretty good opening for PGSM considering it's not anime.
Memorable
One of my friend commented that hearing this song reminds her of Kitagawa Keiko (Hino Rei - Sailor Mars) singing during the opening. As all of the others who watched on my PGSM series marathon, the song reminds them of Sailor Senshi's imitating Spice Girls but way much better. I kinda remind also, while listening to the song, of Komatsu Ayaka and Hama Chisaki during the opening (they're really beautiful). Ahh
Lyrics
Thanks to this website, it gave us fans the full lyrics and the English translation. The song is not recommended to be sung by boys. It gave me the creeps even if I sang this song. Listening to it is good but singing I'll pass.
Overall Rating
Kirari is a lively song as should be for an opening. It is a morale-boosting song (if you read the lyrics thoroughly, you'll understand). But the down part of it, it is not meant for male specimen (that includes me).
Laurana - Princess Sailor Moon
Tone/Mood
Wow, this song is so upbeat, and full of life! It just gives me a complete sense of fulfillment. I remember the first time I heard this song; it was at the beginning of the first episode. It was utterly different from the original anime theme song, but in a way it was so much better. This song fits the new Sailor Moon like a glove, and it just reverberates through the bones. It is so amazing how one song can pump you up for what you know could be quite an amazing experience!
Placement
This song as previously mentioned fits like a glove. Each time you catch a glimpse of it you know there is no other song that can be placed in that small space! When the senshi first stood together as a group and it played, that was the only song that would fit in that place, as with so many other various places. This song stands proud where it is placed, and it makes a statement. The statement may be hard to grasp at first, but when you watch the episodes with this song in it again you can truly understand the scope of this song’s statement!
Memorable
This song is overwhelmingly memorable! It is the song of PGSM and without Kirari*Sailor Dream, PGSM would not be nearly as memorable as it is. This song just sticks in your head for months, and refuses to ever go away. I sing this song many times a week, and I have it on various cds at home! I gave my boyfriend a PGSM cd, and he absolutely loves this song! How can this song not be so memorable when it symbolizes all that PGSM is?!
Lyrics
The lyrics fit as well as any English translation of a wonderful Japanese song can fit. Sure the lyrics are just a weird mixture of words in English, but I just think of them as a poem. Not to mention, the lyrics fit the context as the show seeing as they describe the senshi. It explains that just because the senshi are clad in a uniform they are still themselves deep down. It truly is a song about being who you are on the inside.
Overall Rating
5/5- I feel this song deserves this rating because it is a truly magnificent song. It has a wonderful feel to it that just makes my heart soar when I hear it. It is so utterly memorable, and I could listen to it for hours at a time. It is a new beginning for our beloved Sailor Moon, and for a new beginning this song tops the cake. This is, as I said, the song of PGSM, and PGSM would not be PGSM without it.
Jessica - Sailor V
Tone/Mood
The tone of this song is very happy, its new and exciting and you can't help but sing along, even if its only with random lines and phrases. For some reason, the whole song just screams 'hope' to me.
Placement
Its brilliant as an opening song and I don't think it would fit as well anywhere else. The way it starts slowly and builds up makes you want to stay and listen/watch if only to see what its building up to. As the tone was so happy, as the series went on, it perhaps didn't fit as well as it did earlier in the show's life, but as I said whilst talking of the tone, it always brings hope.
Memorable
I'll be honest and say I hated this song at first. I always skipped the opening just to avoid the song. I guess that was because I never took the time to listen to it until I bought the, "Dear My Friend," album. Now I've listened to it so many times I can't remember and I love it. It's a memorable song as a refreshing change for a new Sailor Moon. I'll remember it if only because I was so wrong with my initial impression of it!
Lyrics
Okay, so not a lot of the lyrics make sense in English. However, in whichever language you choose to study them, they do make sense in regard to Sailor Senshi; I think they fit very well, no matter how random some of the phrases may seem. I love the lines, "meikuappu shite yuku kirameki wa hitai," and, "Kirari to catch me, kiss again, Seeraa fuku no ribon hodoite. Watashi da kara iranai mou nani mo." To me, the latter seems to be about seeing the Senshi for who she is, that there's an ordinary girl with a heart under the uniform, not just a strong solider of justice. Its lines like these that just fit the show, and the girls, perfectly.
Overall Rating
4/5; if only because it took some getting used to, perhaps because of the lack of lyrical sense.
Watters Keith - Sailor Jupiter
Tone/Mood
This is a very happy song, indeed! I wanted to get up and dance to it. It has a great beat to it. When I hear it I am happy. If I was sad or unhappy before, when I hear this song, that's no longer the case.
Placement
This song is a great way to open the Sailor Moon Live series. It sets the mood, you know?
Memorable
This song is quite memorable! You can't have watched PGSM without hearing it. It's just a great song that everyone should hear!
Lyrics
Okay, so the lyrics don't really make sense, but it is a very exciting song! It's happy and some of the lyrics will always remind me of PGSM.
A sailor soldier, that is a Moonlight real girl
I'll always remember that line. It's one that just sticks with me.
Overall Rating
I'll give it 4 hearts. It's just that some of the lyrics are weird. Don't get me wrong, I love the song. The mood and beat are great. That's what I love about the song, but the lyrics got it a 4.
Ciao - Sailor Pluto
Tone/Mood
I just love this song. Ever since I first heard it, I thought it was really snappy, up-beat and happy. I can't really help but feel really up when I listen to the song. It makes me wanna sing along and dance to the music. In fact, I often annoy my family by doing just that *grins evilly*
Placement
I think it makes a very good opening song for the whole series. It's a bit of a shame that they didn't use the whole song, but I can understand time constraints. It sets the tone for the episodes, starting off with positive thoughts and feelings. The only thing I would change was maybe using the rest of the song in the closing credits instead but in their infinite wisdom, they didn't feel the same *chuckles*
Memorable
When I hear the opening music, it automatically reminds me of the series and the intro. It was the first song I ever had of the series, and I burned a copy so that I would have it in my car, and I use it to annoy my husband at times *chuckles* I love the song so much that I memorised all the words and was going to use it as an audition piece for a Sera Myu song site, but couldn't work out how to record myself singing it *chuckles* I still sing it a lot cuz it makes me in a good mood when I listen to it.
Lyrics
I found the lyrics fit amazingly well with the series, but it's hardly
surprising since it is written by none other than Takeuchi-sensei herself. My
favourite part is this, because it just sums up the spirit of the whole show,
and Usagi's attitude as Sailor Moon:
Watashi ni nare
KIRARI to sailor wings!
Daichi wo kakenukeru GAADIAN
Watashi da kara dekiru yo kono BATORU
MEIKUAPPU shite yuku kirameki wa hitai
SEERAA senshi sore wa
MOONRAITO FOOCHUN
She may not want to, but to save the Earth, she will fight, and that's a
wonderful way to be (in my humble opinion) cuz I feel the same way in general..
I am a pacifist at heart but to save my family and friends, I will fight, no
matter what it takes.
Overall Rating
I would give this song a 4-star rating. There are a few words I would have changed, but on the whole, it is a wonderful song, with wonderful music that just makes me wanna listen to it over and over again (as I am doing now, typing up this review). I love Sae's voice too, it just works so well with the song. I couldn't imagine anyone else singing it now, and was very pleased they brought her in to sing it for the special show they gave.
Sebi - Jedite
Tone/Mood
Well, this is certainly...perky...seriously, this is the kinda song that lifts a bad mood within minutes of starting. Needless to say, it has a very pleasant and soothing tone to it. All in all, a happy happy joy joy kinda song.
Placement
I find it a bit hard to see it as the intro to Sailor Moon, the music feels more like something you would here at the series conclusion. Even so, it does fit well for the shows more dramatic moments.
Memorable
Don't be suprised if you find yerself hummin every few minutes. Definitly something that'll be stuck in you'r head long after you've listened to it. Listen to it enough, and I can guarentee that you'll start belting out the lyrics evry now and then, It's that catchy.
Lyrics:
Er... well, hearing it in Japanese as part of the song certainly adds that certain perky charm. But uh, When I see what it says in English... Well, it sorta looses its prettyness when you know what the words are and can see that they barely fit together to actually say something. Then again, its being sung in Jpanase so who cares? My only concern is that the lyrics flow well with the song their a part of.
Overall Rating
Kara - Kuroki Mio
TONE/MOOD:
This song knew that its goal in life was to be an opening theme, and that's what it went for. The fact that it didn't attempt to be anything more makes it pleasant in and of itself, and DOES make it count for more. I knew from the second I heard it in Act 1 that it would become one of the new 'rallying songs' of otakudom. The singer isn't the sort I would have chosen, but she's not bad.PLACEMENT:
Opening theme and, well, everywhere.MEMORABLE:
Yes. At first I wanted them to go back to 'Moonlight Densetsu' for old times' sake, but there's just something about this song that sticks with you.LYRICS:
They're by Naoko-sensei, and they contain a lot of the same themes as the lyrics to the Sailor Star Song. Sailor wings, sailor this, sailor that. Which is fine. The emphasis on the 'senshi way of life,' especially the sailor fuku, was an interesting touch. I've often found that lyricists for OP/ED themes err on the side of being irrelevant to the series, rather than too relevant (exceptions, of course, being things like 'Ace, Ace, Ace, Ace wo Nerae!' and 'Ga-Ga-Ga, Ga-Ga-Ga, GAOGAIGAR!' where they clearly don't care about them being playable in any context but as an opening). But the thing is, Sailormoon is so widespread and such a big part of so many people's lives that I think going for absolute show relevancy doesn't kill its playability at all.OVERALL:
