My Love

Sailor Mercury - Topaz

Tone/Mood

Mi Amor have a very jazzy sound. It does make you want to get up and move side to side. The beat in this is quite heavy. It does is a uplifting mood to you. Mi Amor is a nice song. would make a nice Para Para song, hehe

Placement

nope, I think it may have been in the live stage show

Memorable

Well out of the two Sailor Mercury songs this is the better so i would say for us Mercury fans yes

Lyrics

The lyrics are kind of so-so. I guess it all how you hear them

Because I hear your voice in my spirit
I close my eyes, and even though we're far apart
You're the only one who understands

These word just scream Nep. and Ami. They would have made a really cute item if you ask me or should i say Nep. and dark mercury. hehehe

Our eyes met by chance
That was the beginning
I heard the sound of something changing deep in my heart

Also these remind me of the love that should have been But the "Do you have a girlfriend? " part, it really does note sound like Ami chan. Maybe if she was talking to herself but even still.

Overall Rating

I wish it could have been better, sadly i give this a 2. They really just did not do well with Ami's songs

Princess Serenity - Elly

Tone/Mood

This song sounds SO CHEESY on opening! This reminds me of a badly done attempt at a Japanese girl trying to be Latino...oh right, that's exactly what it is! As much as I adore Chisaki/Rika-chan, this song is just over-the-top cheesy sounding. It actually reminds me of a SNL skit I saw years ago with Chris Farley on a Japanese game show, where the contestants have to chop off their fingers when they get an answer incorrect, with Mike Myers being all Japanese and speaking it properly, which I found amusing. The "Japanese game-show host" (I say this because the actress was actually an American regular on the SNL cast) had a really cheesy bright pink evening gown on with a Beehive hairdo and TONS of costume jewelry. Just a reminder of how corny the Japanese can come off as sometimes. This song is like that.

Placement

This song was only featured on the Mercury single. It is supposed to be a character song for Mercury, and I don't think it fits at ALL. How the hell Ami is supposed to be singing about "her love" when her in-show character has NO BOYFRIEND/LOVE INTEREST is beyond me! I know that it is implied that Ami has a "thing" for Nephrite, but that never comes out in the series itself, so it's an assumption only, not fact! I think the Spanish-language bit is an attempt to show Ami's "intellectual" side; unfourtunately this fails since it comes off so cheesy.

Memorable

Not at all. In fact, I try NOT to remember this song, since it pisses me off so badly. How they could take a beloved character like Mercury, who in Japan was SO popular, and give her the CRAPPIEST character songs is beyond me. Hell, I'm wondering if Over Rainbow Tour could qualify as better than this. At least it matches Usagi's sometimes annoying character.

Lyrics

Until yesterday I went along
Not even caring what your name was
But in that instant, time came to a halt
I'm a new person

Seriously...WTF?! This is SO bad and incoherent that I don't even like to consider it as part of the actual song lyrics. How does this have ANYTHING to do with Mercury's character? I don't think it does, myself. This just SUCKS ASS!

Overall Rating

This song doesn't even get a one. It's just horrible through and through as far as I can see. This song is a disgrace to the wonderful character of Mizuno Ami. Whoever decided that this should be a Mercury character song should just be SHOT. 'Nuf said.

Sailor Neptune - Ruth

Tone

Upbeat and has a tad bit of salsa in the mix. Not like 'Sakura Fubuki', more 'shake your bon bon' type of beat. Atleast that's the best way I can describe it. Heh, doesn't help that the song title and bits in the song are done in Spanish so...yeah. Again I downloaded the song but I really don't like it as much as her other single. Just doesn't do anything for me. Chisaki's voice isn't as good as it is in "Yakusoku" so that's prolly why I really didn't like it.

Placement

Sadly the song wasn't used in PGSM, the Live Event, Dance Special or in the Special Act either. Makes me wonder why the directors had the girls sing if the songs aren't even gonna be used.

Memorable

You have to hear the song to decide for yourself. Since it wasn't used it's not very memorable. Some may have memorized the song, but I haven't as I don't like it too much.

Lyrics

We have Spanish and Japanese! Nice touch. However, none of the lyrics (expect a few lines) make sense to me. But as mentioned in previous reviews, Japanese translated into another language may not always make sense. LOL. However, I do like these lines:

"Our eyes met by chance
That was the beginning
I heard the sound of something changing deep in my heart"

It's romatic to me. Reading that I picture her walking down the street and at the same time, a nice looking guy walks pass her. Thier eyes meet and she instantly falls in love. Quite lovely but that's all I liked out of the whole song.

Overall Rating

3 hearts out of 5! This song gets only 3 hearts as it wasn't Chisaki's best performance to date. Her other single, 'Yakusoku' was better to my ears. The song did have it's moments but not enough to get a higher "score". Again, you'll need to listen to the song to judge for yourself.

Tuxedo Mask - Kero-chan

Tone/Mood:

It has a very Latin an upbeat sound. Since the beginning, this song makes wanna DANCE! I think it was cool to mix Spanish-Japanese-English in this song; the mixture is so strange and so cool. Every time I hear this song, the music makes me happy; I hear it while I picture myself in a beach or a tropical paradise. XD

Placement:

Just in the character's single. I know this is not the typical Ami's song, but I like it (I know I'll put these on March's reviews, but personally, I think this could have been a better single than Kanojo wa Ijiwaru or Koi suru Soldier). I think this could be a new Ami c'mon; Live Action Ami was more different than anime Ami. PGSM Ami had a bit more of personality and she expressed her feelings better than anime Ami. I think this song shows that part of Ami that wants to be found. XD;

Memorable:

As a Mexican boy, I will remember this song. Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury singing in my native language! XD Also, I just love this song. If I ever make a total anime party, I will definitely put this song so that everybody can get up and dance!!!

Lyrics:

Our eyes met by chance
That was the beginning
I heard the sound of something changing deep in my heart

~^*^~

Realizing the feelings hidden in my eyes
By a deep sea with nobody around
In a world where not even the sound of the waves reaches
Instead of words, a thousand mysteries will unfold
Someday
You'll find a me that you don't know
My love!

~^*^~

Te quiero
Me gusta tu voz
Me quieres?
Tienes novia

Those are my favorite parts of the song! I just love it!!! The first two paragraphs show a side of Ami that is somehow hidden, a side that we don't know, but we're eager to. The second paragraph yells to me AMI!!! AMI!!! AMI!!! I don't know why, but I just love this song, for the music and lyrics XD. The chorus makes the song perfect for a Latin-dance song! ^__^

Overall Rating:

Sorry, I know many people hate this song, but I think is not that bad. I give this song 4 stars, it would have been 5 if the writers would have made a better effort in this image song. XD

Sailor Uranus - Nickole

Tone/Mood

This song has that cool techno/pop beat that I love to hear in a SailorMoon or PGSM song! I love dancing to it! :)

Placement

Don't know, don't care.

Memorable

Eh.....no, I don't quite think so. Maybe the beat to it, but the song itself I don't think I would like to remember this one at all.

Lyrics

Sensing the feelings wavering in my eyes
In a green forest with nobody around
In a world where you can't even hear the sound of the wind
I'll give you a single answer with
My lips
Don't bother trying to pretend
You can't hear me
My love!

These lyrics are okay, I guess...I'm just not a fan of the singing or the lyrics for this song that much.

Overall Rating

Okay, how do I put it... This song is OKAY, not the best but OKAY. For a PGSM song I'll give it a 1, but for a Sailor Mercury or a song all together, I'm not that much of a fan of it.

Ilse - Dark Sailor Mercury

Tone/Mood

This song has definitely something Spanish. It makes me think of the Spanish party music they play. When I first heard it, I jumped almost out of my socks. That's because of the guitar. It's very calm, and I thought; another slow song again. But now not any more. The song isn't slow, it's very fast. Perfect to dance.

Placement

Not in series. NOT FAIR! And also not in the Kiari Super Live Event. I think that they should have put one song from every charactersingle in it.

Memorable

Yes, for the Rika/Chisaki fans and for me. The song is very nice. I really like it. Like I said in the Yakusoku review, I think that a lot of people like Mi amor better (I think that only the people from the yakusokufanlisting like Yakusoku better).

Lyrics:

Because I hear your voice in my spirit
I close my eyes, and even though we're far apart
You're the only one who understands

Realizing the feelings hidden in my eyes
By a deep sea with nobody around
In a world where not even the sound of the waves reaches
Instead of words, a thousand mysteries will unfold
Someday
You'll find a me that you don't know
My love!

I like them very much. I laughed very hard because of that "koe". I my country (NL) "koe" means cow. Chisaki/Rika has all beautiful lyrics. I like the part with that sea and the waves.

Overall rating:

5 hearts. The lyrics rock, I like the melody, what else can I say? The song is perfect. Really a character song for Ami. Chisaki/Rika can sing well!

Kuroki Mio - Kaitlin

Tone/Mood

Hmmm another mellow one from Ami... wait... AHHHH! What the heck is this? It's like a cross between Latin and Jamacan music. I don't like it. The song should be happy, based on the music, but she doesn't sound it. Weird choir of people going "Oooo Ahhhh" doesn't help me. I feel like I'm in a horror movie... and I'm being tormented with song. I like where she says "Mi Amor" but not a lot else in this song. The beat is catchy, though. Just doesn't sit right with me. The refrain I DO like but then we kick back into the weirdness that is this song.

Placement

Just on the singles

Memorable

Not really... it kinda... well... sucks. At least, that's what I think. I usually skip it, and for good reason. You'll hear weird whispy voices going "Mi Amor" long into your nightmares.

Lyrics

The part I like best is actually the spanish... "I love you I like your voice Do you love me? Do you have a girlfriend? "

Curious how the japanese are always in love with someone without knowing them. Maybe it's a childish thing, I don't know. If you aren't sure if he has a girlfriend, how much do you know the guy? Enough to love him!? Actually, most of the verses are quite pretty, expressing love in very poetic ways. Then we get this...

"Until yesterday I went along Not even caring what your name was But in that instant, time came to a halt I'm a new person "

Okay, so you're in love with someone as of yesterday? Oh Ami... you crazy fool. I have to say these songs do NOT reflect Ami-chan at all. They just don't. Maybe they reflect the great name-changing Rika, but they are in no way like Mizuno Ami.

Overall Rating

2 - Booooo, Rika. Boooooo.

Sailor Luna - Emo-chan

Tone/Mood

It has a very spanish feel too it, which is slightly funny because it's a Japanese artist doing spanish. It's a definate song that's good for the salsa or cha cha, or any kind of dance between two dancers. It's got a very good "bop" feel to it and the tone is very happy and relaxed, just about having fun.

Placement

It was not in the series.

Memorable

As a character single, I don't believe it would be a good song to remember. In the series, Ami doesn;t have a love interest, so in a way this song really makes so real sense. But in general, I'll always attach this to Hama Chisaki.

Lyrics

I found the lyrics in this to be amusing, since part of it is in spanish. The Japanese speak spanish a little better than they do english! And they have to learn english...funny funny stuff...

Realizing the feelings hidden in my eyes By a deep sea with nobody around In a world where not even the sound of the waves reaches Instead of words, a thousand mysteries will unfold Someday You'll find a me that you don't know My love!

Honestly, the imagery used in this song is nice. The words are a little catchy, but still, it really doesn't fight Ami Mizuno.

Overall Rating

Hmm...I'd say a three, because the song doesnt really fight the Live Action Ami character. And when they say this is a character single, it kind of taints the song. In general, i like the song. Its beat is nice and the spanish feel is a little fun.

Sailor Venus - Tobias

Tone/Mood

A catchy tuned song... with a faster tempo than "Yakusoku"... It has a very happy theme going on, so it really draws attention to itself with its ambience. However it the tone is fitting for some other senshi... not a Mercury song...

Placement

It wasn't placed in any episode of the show... that I can think of anyway. But it might work somewhere... in another universe maybe... like the anime version... who knows... I honestly just can't see any place where this song would fit...

Memorable

Is this song memorable... yes and no... I mean I like Chisaki Hama (Rika) but she is not my favorite... (I am, a die hard Keiko Kitagawa fan... lol) But, yes I do believe that it is memorable, since I have it on my MP3 player... (I say this alot... but its the truth) However, despite that fact, I rarely listen to it...

Lyrics

Interesting lyrics... especially the Spanish "Te quiero Me gusta tu voz, Me quieres? ¿Tienes novia?". However despite the use of Spanish... which I view in the same wave of English lyrics... it doesn't fit so well... especially since the lyrics as a whole, don't reflect Ami... there are inklings of memories of Nephrite and Ami... but since that relationship wasn't really heavily elaborated upon... its more a mystery... so I don't think the lyrics work...

Overall Rating

its fast paced... fun and generally nice to listen to... and even though it is not my favorite song to listen to, I still semi-enjoy the song... honestly though, the song doesn't fit Ami... I don't know... but thats what I feel.

Zoicite - Ephie

Tone/Mood

Very upbeat. I think this song would fit well for a dance or perhaps a travel scene. It gives me an impression of driving through Chula Vista, or southern San Diego.

Placement

CDs only, I think, which is just as well. I don't believe it would have fit the series at all.

Memorable

It's only memorable to me because it tends to get stuck in my head. Unfortunately, it's because it's a song I don't particularly care for too much. I do like it more than Miracle Dance Night, but not by much.

Lyrics

Te quiero
Me gusta tu voz
Me quieres?
¿Tienes novia?

Well, not only does the "Spapanese" bug me (yet only slightly since I'm used to "Frapanese" from the Sera Myu) but this phrase seems a bit too bold for Ami. She speaks very proper, even around close friends. I don't see her suddenly breaking out to go "HEY! You gots a girlfriend?" It just doesn't mesh well to me.

Overall Rating

I don't care for it too much, though I will say it does get stuck in my head. But I can't seem to find a time when I just want to hear it. I give this a 1.

Prince Endymion - Alexander

Tone/Mood

Mi Amor is in my top 3 favourite PGSM songs! I LOVE this peace! It has a very nice jazz sound and latino melody! The Spanish part of the song is original!

Placement

Unfortunatelly, only on the CDs.

Memorable

I suppose "Mi Amor" is VERY memorable to ALL fans. Part of them will remember it because they hate it, and the other part of the PGSM fans will not forget it becuase they love it. I, as a big Sailor Mercury fan, will always remember for "Mi Amor".

Lyrics

"I love you
I like your voice
Do you love me?
Do you have a girlfriend?"

These four lines reveal "the new Mizuno-san". I think that they are the way to show the difference between the PGSM and BSSM Ami.

"Realizing the feelings hidden in my eyes
By a deep sea with nobody around
In a world where not even the sound of the waves reaches
Instead of words, a thousand mysteries will unfold
Someday
You'll find a me that you don't know
My love! "

The lyrics of "Mi Amor" are also very romantic!

Overall Rating

5 hearts!! 5 hearts!! 5 hearts!! I really love "Mi Amor" and I still can't deceide if it is better than "Yakusoku"...

Sailor Pluto - Ciao

Tone/Mood

It's kind of a happy sort of song, fast paced and snappy. You can hear again her strength and the fact that she can actually carry a tune. I am rather more impressed this time listening to the song than I was when I first heard it. Maybe my judgement isn't so clouded or whatever. *smiles* My head is kind of bopping to the song as it's playing while I'm writing this, and for once, my son isn't screaming at me to turn this noise off while he's playing his game. A hint perhaps? *grins*

Placement

I don't remember if this is in the show or not. I think it is, but...again, I am not sure. Maybe I'm thinking of the little concert type show they gave. I'm not sure. All I get in my mind when I listen to it is a vision of Usagi and Mamoru on the motorbike cruising down the highway or something like that so...maybe that's where I remember it from *smiles* It seems to be a cruising sort of song anyway so it fits rather well with that image I have of it.

Memorable

As with the other song, I've had bits of this song in my head for a while. Strange how stuff you don't really like to start with stays with you the longest *grins* The tune is fast paced, which I like anyway. I'm not really into the slower kinds of songs that you feel seem to drag out.

Lyrics

I think the lyrics fit quite well into the music - she's not reaching, lagging or falling over herself to get the words out like in some of the other songs sung by the other girls, and I'm rather pleased with that. There's nothing worse than a song that you can barely understand the words because the singer is falling over himself (or herself) to sing.

Overall Rating

I'd give this one a slightly higher 4. I like the tune, the lyrics and Hama's voice. I'm a bit dubious of the Spanish lyrics in it, cuz it doesn't really fit with the Japanese lyrics but that's just me.

Queen Beryl - Alexa

Tone/Mood

It’s kind of jazzy with a move left-to-right type of beat. However, the singing

Placement

Only on the Mercury Character Single, it’s a wonder they made her sing it when it’s all about Love.

Memorable

I hate this song, actually. I try to avoid listening to it, and, you should all pity me for having to drag it up from the depths of my PGSM song archives to find it. This song should be banned for eternity from everything!!

Lyrics

Our eyes met by chance
That was the beginning
I heard the sound of something changing deep in my heart
Going down a street for the first time
I doubt even a lost puppy
Would understand this confusion
I can't go back now

Because I hear your voice in my spirit
I close my eyes, and even though we're far apart
You're the only one who understands

Realizing the feelings hidden in my eyes
By a deep sea with nobody around
In a world where not even the sound of the waves reaches
Instead of words, a thousand mysteries will unfold
Someday
You'll find a me that you don't know
My love!

I love you
I love your voice
Do you love me?
Do you have a girlfriend?

I hope nobody actually likes these lyrics. Do you love me? Do you have a girlfriend? And exactly HOW is this a Mercury Single? She has absolutely no love interest! You only need to see one episode of ANY version of Sailor Moon to know that (Aside from that boy with the ‘Rainbow Crystals’, but the smart boy quickly leaves and never comes back. xD )

Overall Rating

This. Song. Is. HORRIBLE! I’m giving this song a TWO! I can’t stand it!

Sailorasteroid - Sailor Pluto

Mood:

Definite Spanish feel, even without the Spanish lyrics. This is a song for rump-shaking and munching Tostitos and salsa. The normally unaccented Japanese falls beautifully into the syncopated rhythms adding a quickness to the song. The bridge and the fade, however, are too mellow and clash with the rest of the song.

Placement:

N/A

Memorable:

Well, it's probably Rika/Hama's best song, though that's not saying much, and if I'm really favoring PGSM it'll be on my burned CD. The quiet guitar that leads it off followed by a loud beginning tends to make this rather skippable. Once I do get into it, I like singing along and waiting for the stops before the title lyric.

Lyrics:

Typical J-pop love song, with some phrases out of left field. I would have liked to have had something a bit more exotic to go with the tune. The Spanish phrase is hilarious out of context-she confesses her love, asks for a response, and *then* asks if he has a girlfriend? What if the answer is yes?

Overall:

Let's put it this way: Chisaki's probably the third best singer of all the Sailor Mercury's I've heard. She just has no passion. The song is well-written enough, but why not give it to someone who can sing? Two.

Sailor Jupiter - Joy Azama

Tone/Mood

I first heard this song on the PGSM CD, and my first impressions of it is not very pleasant, or I don't like it much back then. My reason? Well, perhaps because it followed Sakura Fubuki, which has a more wonderful tune. However, as time passed by, I grew to love it, and appreciated Chisaki's voice as well. It definitely has a Spanish-influence to it, which adds to its uniqueness and upbeat tune. This is also a nice song to dance to. Moreover, when I first heard this song, I was wondering who Ami/Mercury is referring to in "Mi Amor," and I checked the lyrics immediately.

Placement

This is not played on any acts or the special live event, but only found on the CDs.

Memorable

Not very memorable to me (I usually skip it), but it is the only Spanish-titled song in PGSM, perhaps memorable to Ami/Mercury/Hama fans. This is one of the songs that I'm haven't memorized yet, along with Rei's "Hoshi Furu Yoake." But I still loved Hama's voice, it's just I'm not that fond of this song.

Lyrics

I love you
I like your voice
Do you love me
Do you have a girlfriend?

Our eyes met by chance
That was the beginning
I heard the sound of something changing deep in my heart
Going down a street for the first time
I doubt even a lost puppy
Would understand this confusion
I can't go back now

Now that I've read the lyrics, I honestly don't know who Ami is referring to in the series with this song. As far as I know, this song was made way before there are signs of attraction between Ami/Dark Mercury and Nephrite. Ami, in my opinion, is a very reserved girl in the series, and way serious at times (except in some acts such as Act 37, Act 40, etc). I think it does fit on the context of the show, but not in Ami's terms. It is more like a Mamoru-Usagi song to me. This song is not even appropriate as an ode to Ami's mom. I couldn't think of any reason any more. In my opinion, this is not a Sailor Mercury character single because for me, it does not describe who PGSM Ami really is, perhaps it's more appropriate to anime Ami.

Overall Rating

I give this a 3 out of 5 hearts. I may not like the tune that much, but it is consistent and upbeat, and Chisaki's voice is wonderful as ever.

Kunzite - Loreal

Tone/Mood

Definitely a Latin theme here. It is very upbeat. While it doesn't really sound right to me, I still couldn't help moving with the music.

Placement

This song doesn't really fit the series. I think the whole spanish thing is throwing me off. It is on one of the cds I think.

Memorable

I don't think I have ever heard a japanese singer speak in spanish. That was pretty memorable.

Lyrics

Te quiero
Me gusta tu voz
Me quieres?
¿Tienes novia?

These lyrics do not fit Mercury at all. She doesn't strike me as asking someone if they have a girlfriend or not.

Overall Rating

I'm giving it a two only because she sang in spanish and did a decent job at it.

Kuroki Mio - Kara

TONE/MOOD:

Spanish. Why ... Spanish? I understand that Ami is intelligent and probably speaks every language known to man, but ... why Spanish? Ignoring that initial confusion, it's not an obnoxious sound. I didn't feel like I was being run into by a car full of mariachi singers. It's a good style, but I question using it for an image song for Ami.

PLACEMENT:

Mizuno Ami's character single.

MEMORABLE:

Yes, if only because it seems so incredibly inappropriate.

LYRICS:

Why ... is ... there ... Spanish? WHY? I don't understand! Again, getting past that, I like the intricate timing on the chorus. I've tried to sing it a few times myself, and it isn't exactly easy. So I'm impressed with that part of it.

OVERALL RATING:

3 out of 5 ... I'm a big Rika fan, but it loses 2 hearts for confusing me.
