Princess Serenity - Elly
Tone/Mood
SOO HYPER! u_u; Man, this song irritates me. I love Sawaii Miyu and all, but she should NOT be trying to hit the notes that she's supposed to be doing. The background music is so hyper and has no real flow to it at all. ARG! This is like bad techno music on crack. I know that Japanese women like to have higher voices for cultural purposes and whatever, but DAMN this is an extreme! I can't stand it! Gritting my teeth through this song once was hard enough, but the fact that I had it on loop while I wrote this review did not help things. I usually enjoy the bubbly things of life, but this is not one of them.
Placement
WHY they would put this in the small romantic scene where Usagi gets on Mamoru's bike is beyond me. Not only is this song irritating and grates on the nerves, but its NOT slow or romantic in the least! Whoever thought of putting this song in a love type of scene should be shot for having bad taste. Man. I remember watching the episode it was featured in, and being rather groovy until this song came on. It just ruined the entire damned scene.
Memorable
Unfourtunately, this song has made it's way into the memories of PGSM fans everywhere. Websites are named after the title of this annoying song for some reason. Most notably, I think of my friend Justin's site, Rainbow Tour 101. WHY DO YOU NAME YOUR SITE AFTER THIS CRAP SONG? WHY??? Arg. Somehow this song became the more memorable of the two Usagi Character singles, but I have no idea why. Maybe because of it's brain melting properties? The world may never know. Blood flows from my ears and can only be stopped by use of tampons when this song comes on. It repeats endlessly for hours even when it's not on. Ugh.
Lyrics
As if the music itself wasn't bad enough, someone felt the need to make this etrocity of a song even worse with the lyrics. WTF moment in the song: "As I thought, I'm in love / This vacation with you / Put on your sunglasses / And take me on an / Ocean love tour!" Where the *hell* did someone get that from? They should die for making such crappy lyrics! Gah! The lyrics only intensify my aggitation when listening to this song.
Overall Rating
This song gets a pity heart. It's part of PGSM, so I feel I should give it some sort of recognition, but DAMN this song sucks. If it were only possible to erase it from the memories of us all...
Sailor Neptune - Ruth
Tone/Mood
Happy-Go-Lucky type of song!! This is Usagi's character song-well one of them. Very upbeat and fast paced. Song wasn't really a good song for Usagi (Sawaii Miyuu) to sing as she doesn't have the greatest voice out of the bunch. I have to admit I liked it the first time I heard it as I thought it was cute but now I just think it's annoying as ever!
Placement
Well...no...I can't see why this song was used in the series. I truely believe it was done just to make money!
Memorable
Again no. I don't know any of the lyrics other then "Ocean, Bubbles". Not a song I would care to listen to again.
Lyrics
Bad choice of English words mixed in with the song. The writer(s) need to be shot for making such lyrics for Sawaii to sing. I think that explains it all!
Overall Rating
Gah! 1 Heart! Why oh why do we need this song in PGSM? How could the writers and such do this to us? It's a conspiracy! They just want MONEY!
Saturn Saturn - Sat
Tone/Mood
You know, this is the first time I have actually listened to this song and usually with the PGSM series I like the music on first impulse, but this song is not doing ANYTHING for me at all... in fact is is rather annoying with what I feel is too much space between some of the lyrics.... the background beat is enough to make me want to throw up as for some reason it is giving me motion sickness to listen to it. And that horrible repeating pulse reminds me of bright flashes on tv that might throw me into a seizure.... wait... I am going into one now....
Placement
I don't remember where this was placed in the series and if it was, I am GLAD that I don't remember it. This song doesn't belong anywhere in the series for how bad it and it doesn't really seem to fit anywhere that I can think of where it would be appropriate for Usagi to be what sounds like screaming at the top of her lungs for what I assume is to be happiness, it is nerve wracking to say the least and doesn't fit
Memorable
Oh yeah, its memorable. So memorable that many people have named their site after it! What is wrong with you people?! This songs only memory with me will be locked in a safe box somewhere so that it doesn't land me in the nut house
Lyrics
You know, I don't want to harp on the lyrics to this song, but they are exactly what I expect out of this junk.... crap... complete and utter crap! Come on! Whoever wrote these lyrics was either paid badly and wanted to get back at somebody in the worst of ways, or had a vendetta against the Sailor Moon fans worldwide and thought that they could practice some severe mental torture on us with this junk they call a song.
Overall Rating
Zero hearts
Need I explain my rating? I don't think so. I think my review more then says how it got a zero in my book.
Sailor Mercury - Topaz
Tone/Mood
Its an upbeat tune. You can really hear the beat. To me it sounds like a ddr song. and would be a great on to ddr with.Placement
Its in the act the Usagi and Mamoru steal back Minako's jewels. Usagi gets on his bike and the song starts. It was an OK place. I mean it is a part where both area happy and stuff. But there could have been much better songs placed there.Memorable
The only way I see this song being memorable is that for some reason every one and their brother is calling their site or group Over Rainbow Tour. It is a cute name. But I really don't care for this song list. Its not on my top 10 list.Lyrics
As I thought, it's suddenThis escape with you
Hit the gas
And take me
Oh go this sound right in place to where they placed it in the show. Oh no wait a sec.
On a snowlight drive!
Huh? where did this come from? Snow? The words go on about cellphones, birthdays, and even an ocean love tour. The words just don't fit where they where put in the show nor do the if Usagi
Overall Rating
I would give this only a 1. Maybe 1 1/2. Just because it does make me want to get up and DDR. And I do love how she sings yokatta.
Kuroki Mio - Justin
Tone/ Mood
This is obviously a bouncy song, especially if it's sung by Miyuu Sawai (Usagi Tsukino), but her voice doesn't sound the greatest here. I wouldn't call it her best song sung for PGSM. ><
Placement
It's a good song for Usagi, knowing her character.. but, I just don't think Miyuu Sawai's voice sounded the best singing too it.
Memorable
Again, Usagi's first single song -- Why would you forget it?
Lyrics
These lyrics really make no sense.
Overall Rating
2/5! I don't really like this song and I don't really recommend it. Can't you tell I don't like it?
Sailor Venus - Tobias
Tone/Mood
Well... It is happy... but hyper. Its tone is that of one made to be enthusiastic but it feels a little much for the vocals of Sawai-san. It is an ok song if you like hyper... but for me... despite the fact that I enjoy this song... I just don't enjoy it as much as Sawai-san's other song, "Here We Go". I first heard this song in the act where Usagi rode on the motorcycle with Mamoru... it just sounded out of place... for the record, I couldn't listen to this song on a continuous basis like other songs, it grated on my nerves... but I digress, If you like uber-hyper songs then this one is up your alley!
Placement
In terms of placement this song... well... it doesn't fit anywhere I think... despite its use in above said act. I just didn't think it was a great song... It didn't fit Sawai-san's vocal range. This song I have also noticed... was used once and only once. I have a feeling it may not have been as popular as everyone thinks it is. It just didn't fit.
Memorable
Do I think its memorable... Yes and No... yes, (for me, anyway) it will remain the song of PGSM that I will listen to rarely. On other parts however it is ok for filler space on my mp3 player... (I presently have the entire Dear My Friend album plus some extra tracks contained within) However... I usually skip this track. It just didn't have what it takes to be truly memorable... it needed to have the lyrics, rhythm and style that grabs the listener... it just kind of... fizzled, in this department.
Lyrics
Lyrics... Bad. It makes no sense whatsoever... I have no favorite lyrics that I can think of... not much to say except its lyrics were probably... the most weirdest of any Japanese song I have ever heard... (well maybe the not the weirdest, just close...)
Overall Rating
I rate it a 1 out of 5... my review does most of the talking... however. I still think it is a decent song but it just didn't quite live up to the standard I'd expect to hear for any Sailormoon song... it was far to hyper-driven... I just couldn't enjoy it very much... and I apologize to those who don't like my review... it is just how I feel about this song.
Sailor Luna - Emo-chan
Tone/Mood
This is one of my favorite songs from PGSM! WHen i heard it in Act 15 while Usagi was riding on Mamoru's bike with him, my heart melted! This is such a great song from her! It's such a bubbly song and has such emotion in the melody! It's cheerful and lustful in a way, because she wants to be with Mamoru. I love it!!
Placement
Well I remember it being in Act 15 the most, and I think it was in another act, but I can't remember. But it perfectly fit the scenes it was played in with Usagi and Mamoru. It was right when Usagi was really realizing that she was falling for Mamoru and it was such a kawaii episode!! It fit really well with the situation.
Memorable
I can say that when I think of Usagi in PGSM, this will be the song i think of. I really think they did a good job with this song for her. Then again, if you aren't a die hard fan, this song ma not stand out well enough. But for me, I will remember it at Usagi's song!
Lyrics
The words in this song are wonderful. Lots of good imagery like:
Heaps of cake and plenty of champagne / Sleet falls on our interchange of high spirits /
and
The bikini and the beach ball all look / So colorful
Really give you ideas of what is happening in the song and in Usagi's head.
While other lyrics give you the detail of what she is trying to say, like:
As I thought, I want to be together / This regret with you / I want to see your face, I want to be with you! / Sometimes I can't bear it! / As I thought, I love it / This teleportation with you / Beyond the sunlight say happy / Over rainbow Birthday!
and
As I thought, it's fate / This destiny with you / You don't have to apologize / Just hug me tenderly!
It's a great love song and the words are perfect!
Overall Rating
A 5!! This song gives so much to the imagination and to the heart, that it diserves a five. It's happy moods and jumpy lyrics make you smile when you hear it. It's really a beautiful song, and I know that I'll always love it or its originality and creativity!!
Sailor Mars - Teresa
Tone/Mood
This song has a very retro and techno mood to it. I like it.
Placement
This song deserves placement because it's the song that plays when Usagi realizes her love for Mamoru.
Memorable
There really isn't anything memorable about this song. Except maybe the fact that it's the first song that we hear that's about Mamoru and Usagi being together.
Lyrics
Elly A.K.A. Princess Serenity E-Mailed me the lyrics to this song. I looked at them and I thought to myself ' These lyrics make no sense at all. ' I like them, but, they're hard to follow, but, hey. Isn't that how all Sailor Moon songs are sometimes?
Overall Rating
4/5 hearts again because of Miyuu Sawai's voice. Not to be mean and bring all of you Miyuu fans down, but, she plays the role of Usagi Tsukino well, but, she has no vocal potential at all. Otherwise, I really like this song.
Frosted_Rain - Nephrite
Tone/Mood
I let my friend do some of his commentaries about the mood of this song. While he was listening to it, he told me "Is that an new DDR(Dance Dance Revolution) song?". I told him it's Sawaii Miyuu singing. Then he burst in disgust and cannot believe how awful of a song that he just heard. As usual, me and the guys agreed the tone of this song: HYPER(as all of us would agree). Mood is very jolly that I can remember kids hopping and go wild on some music. This song is HIGHLY recommended to very jolly JPOP fans.
Placement
The song was placed on Act 15 where Usagi hop in a motorcycle ride with Mamoru (near end of the show). At least that's the only part of the whole series where the song was placed or it might turned very awkward to us.
Memorable
More to me like an everyday, HYPER song played every morning on the FM radio. As it is played every single morning, it gets so IRRITATING. The first time I heard this song, I slowly faded to oblivion, shrank where I sat and said to myself "Miyuu-chan, you're cute but, what happened to you?". If one should be annoyed or wants to torture a JPOP fan, this song is recommended as a TORTURING SONG.
Lyrics
I was really surprised on the turnout of the English translation of Over Rainbow Tour. Even in Japanese (while I listen to the song), it feels WEIRD AND ANNOYING.
Overall
Over Rainbow Tour is probably the MOST IRRITATING JPOP song I've ever heard next to the Sailor Stars Theme of Sailor Moon Anime. Definitely not for boys. If one of the guys I've known sang this song, I wished him to be shot on sight.
Jessica - Sailor V
Tone/Mood
Hyper. And then some. Okay, its annoyingly hyper and it grates on my nerves. Until a few days ago I hadn't managed to get through the whole song and stand it. If you love incredibly hyper songs, then this is for you, but its not for me. Sawai Miyuu sounds as if she's trying desperately to hit notes she honestly can't, you can almost hear the effort in her voice.
Placement
I'll be honest and say I don't remember where it was used in PGSM, though I presume it was. Maybe because I really can't stand the song I blocked it out. I cant actually see it 'fitting' anywhere in the show, even in an Usagi & Mamoru moment! However, I do think it would fit for a moment of euphoric Usagi happiness.
Memorable
I don't think its that memorable. Personally, I only remember it because I hate it that much and its the only song I really can't stand to listen to. This said, it is memorable as an 'Usagi' song.
Lyrics
Maybe its just the English translation but these lyrics are just too random to make a song that's pleasant to listen to. They have no flow and don't appear to make any sense, or progress into something that links together as the song goes on.
Overall Rating
0/5. I cant bring myself to give this song even one heart. I've tried to like it, I've tried to be able to just stand to listen to it, but I can't.
Watters Keith - Sailor Jupiter
Tone/Mood
Oh, the hyperness..I have to say, some of the lyrics really got on my nerves. I like the bouncy beat and all...it's just the lyrics.
Placement
Ths is places at a supposed Usagi/Mamoru moment. When Usagi gets on Mamoru's bike. Eh, I'm not quite sure why in the world they put it there.
Memorable
For me, the only memorable thing about this is the beat. Like I said before, I do not know why they placed it where they did.
Lyrics
I'll say it straight. The lyrics make no sense whatsoever. It's mixed up and just doesn't make sense to me.
Overall Rating
I give it a 2/5. The lyrics kind of ruined the song and the bouncy beat
Ciao - Sailor Pluto
Tone/Mood
The backing beat is very upbeat and dance-y but Sawaii-san seems to have a lot of trouble keeping up with the incredibly fast tempo of the song. It gets annoying after not even the full song. It should put one in a happy mood, but it just annoys me.
Placement
The little bit that they played in the Act where it was first shown really fit with the situation where they're riding along the coastal highway on Mamoru- kun's motorbike. (gee, I wished I was Sawaii-san at that moment *chuckles*) It didn't really merit playing the whole song in any part of the show..
Memorable
When I listen to the certain part of the chorus that was played during the Act in which it was first featured, it reminds me of that and I smile, but other than that, it's only memorable in it's badness.
Lyrics
The lyrics don't seem to make much sense in the context at all, and the tempo is much too fast for Sawaii-san to sing it properly. She always seems to be struggling to keep up with the tempo of the song and therefore loses much of the repetitive message of the song itself, and detracts from the good, uptempo beat of the song.
Overall Rating
Unfortunately I'd have to say this song was the worst of the lot. I'd give it a rather generous 2 stars (rounding up again, from a 1.5) because Sawaii-san does try hard to make sense of a poorly chosen character song. The lyrics and the music are fine separate, but put together, it's an excruciating combination for my poor ears.
Sebi - Jedite
Tone/Mood
Whoa, Techno-Jpop, or would it be J-pop Techno? Whatever the case this song is hard to place in terms of its tone and mood. But if I had to define it I'd say...Genkii, very very Genkii. Makes you wanna get up and get groovy.
Placement
Well, when I first heard it it really didn't feel like it fit the context of the romance scene at all, it made more sense in its placment when I heard it more then once, but that's prolly just cuz I got used to it being where it was.
Memorable
Hmm, well, It's not a song that you'll get tired of anytime soon, but I can't say it's as highly memorable as some of the other songs I've reviewed though that's not a bad thing seeing as how great the memorability of those other songs already were. You prolly won't hum it or belt out lyrics at random, but for awhile at least this song will stick with you.
Lyrics:
Uhm, Well, If I wre, to try and interpret these lyrics, I'd have to say there was one hell of a Christmas Party going on when this song was sung. Though they don't feel very coherent, they still have a very distinct mood in the context of the song itself, so I can't complain.
Overall Rating
Kara - Kuroki Mio
TONE/MOOD:
Perky. Happy. Stop it. I realise this is for Usagi, and I can appreciate it as an Usagi image song. But it is too absolutely thrillingly cheerful. And even when it seems like it lets up, it doesn't actually. It reminds me of a singer who likes the sound of their own voice too much - except in this case, it's that violin arpeggio. Miyuu is a good singer, in spite of this.PLACEMENT:
Tsukino Usagi's character single, and every time she gets on Mamoru's bike.MEMORABLE:
Enh ... only in the way that you roll your eyes and go, 'Not again' ....LYRICS:
Well ... at least they fit the mood of the music. God, for a girl who destroyed two planets, lost her one true love for a few billion centuries, and is having her life threatened by an evil queen, she sure is feeling snazzy. There is one bit that bothers me, though:This regret with you
I want to see your face, I want to be with you!
Sometimes I can't bear it!
OVERALL:
2 out of 5. This song could have been handled a lot better. I'm sure they wanted something nice and peppy for the bike rides, but this one doesn't seem handled too well.
Sailor Uranus - G.E. Artemis
Tone/Mood:
Aghhh too hyper dear god, turn it off o___o; WAY too annoying-hyper for me. I hate that style-I can only take so much. I absolutely hate Miyuu’s singing voice, especially in this song.Placement:
Usagi’s single, and used in a couple acts. Ruined those scenes for me too, yep.Memorable:
Memorable in the bad way, in the oh god I hate this song way.Lyrics:
Why, Takeuchi?! They make no sense! Talking about ocean love tours and cell phones and champagne? WTF? And what the hell is a snowlight birthday , anyway?Rating:
I just cannot stand this song. Just another thing to add to my dislike of Sawai Miyuu.
