Quiet Riot

Dark Sailor Mercury - Ilse

Tone/Mood:

It makes me think a bit of R&B or something like that. Again it's one of Kawabe's more different stiles. I like it very much to play, whatever my mood is. Good to dance. Who's that rapper? Whatever, it just sounds cool. Quiet riot. It was very hard to find the meaning of the word, but I found it after an hour of searching. It means in Dutch; "stille ordeverstoring/dolle pret", with one of the two, I don't really know, but I guess it's the first one

Placement:

Not in the series.

Memorable:

Yes, this is Kawabes first song that makes me think of R&B. I like this Kawabe style. Go for it Chieco!

Lyrics:

I cry when I heard the truth
I felt so close to your heart
I saw everything you did
I heard your voice

The hunter has her boards
These excuses are getting longer and longer
Even if you were my husband in the future
I wouldn't hold your hand

Silent screamin'
I don't care about myself anymore
Break down my shell, feel quiet riot
I want to run away What I wanna do
Now I see these dreams
No one can stop me goin' my way

Yep, I was right in the 'how to translate it'. I like the lyrics. They are okay. They're originally, just like all her other lyrics.

Overall rating:

I REALLY like this new style! 5 hearts. I just love it! Kawabe has really a voice for everything!

Kuroki Mio - Kara

TONE/MOOD:

Careful, Chieko. You're bordering on Britney Spears now. However, her voice manages to bring out a bit more anger in the lyrics than the aforementioned Britney could manage. The rap in the middle from Some Random Guy took me a little by surprise, and I think the song would've been okay without.

PLACEMENT:

From Kawabe Chieko's Shining

MEMORABLE:

Kinda. Not forgettable, but not leaping off my playlist.

LYRICS:

Mm ... she fell out of love with some guy and now she's angry. Or maybe he was mean to her. Cheated on her, maybe? The lyrics make it a bit hard to tell - another case of feeling like the song is a conversation I walked in on a little too late.

OVERALL RATING:

3 out of 5. A decent song, not one I'm gonna go crazy over, and I might actually give it a 4 if the lyrics were a bit better.

Sailor Neptune - Ruth

Tone/Mood

Ahh...Quiet Riot. A nice "you want a piece of me" type of song. I think it's some sort of athem of she's not gonna take crap from him anymore. Whoever that may be, I feel sorry for your sorry butt. LOL! Anywho, the song is not what I call an "upbeat" song as the tone isn't upbeat. But it's not slow like a ballad. Hense I gave it an "athem" title. ^^

Placement

Not used in the show.

Memorable

I say it is. She's telling him she's not going to take it anymore and she's moving on. A lot of girls can relate to this song is some shape or form. I like the rap in the middle. Gives it some zing.

Lyrics

Silent screamin') Osae kirenai jibun ga iru
Break down my shell, feel quiet riot
Tsukami kakete iru, what I wanna do
Ima yume ga mezameru, no one can stop me goin' my way"

Woot! She told him off! Even if you don't understand the Japanese words seen here, you can tell what she's saying by "no on can stop me goin' my way". Dude, she's breaking free and moving on!

Overall Rating

5/5! My second favorite song! I actually liked this song first until I heard Kizuna Iro but that's another story. The song is so fresh and in your face, why not like it?!

Princess Serenity - Elly

Tone/Mood

This reminds me of every pop song...everywhere. Oddly enough, I'm strangely comfortable with this. The song is basically the same few chords over and over again, to the point where it's as simple as a Beatle's song. I like it =)

Placement

Not used in the show.

Memorable

Not incredibly. I'm a huge Kawabe Chieko fan and don't really think of this song when I think of her work. I usually have to remind myself that she sang this song o.O;

Lyrics

The purple twilight
is becoming the start of a new day
This time your voice is
Your own ending

If this isn't the ultimate break up line I don't know what is. She's moving on, she's sick of whoever the idiot in the song she's talking about is, and she's ready to tell him screw off. The start of a new day is the start of her new life without this person holding her down. If sung by a less pop-ish voice, I might actually buy into it. As it is, this song is just way too perky and preppy for me to actually believe that Kawabe is going to tell someone off. To me, she comes off as a very typical Japanese girl. The last thing she'd do is try to make someone "lose face". I love Kawabe, but give me a break, this tiny little girl can't really do much damage.

Overall Rating

As harsh as my review of the song is, I still like it. It's true that I don't perceive Kawabe as the type of girl who could tell anyone off and sound cool about it, but the song is still cute. The lyrics are very well written and still make some sense in English. Woo hoo.

Tuxedo Mask - Kero-chan

Tone/Mood:

An excellent song from Chieco, this is actually in my top 3 XD. As Ilse was saying, this song is somehow R&B, more with the guy's rap in the middle of the song. I love the chords of the melody at the beginning and at the end. You can feel the power of this song (even though Chieco's voice is sweet and calm). You can actually feel a bit of anger in her voice as she is singing a "Go to hell, boy" song! XD

Placement:

In 'Shining, the single.

Memorable:

Of course! It's fresh, different and you can actually feel something really cool in her voice. I like the lyrics, and the music is a variation from the pop/pop-rock style that she has.

Lyrics:

Silent screamin'
I don't care about myself anymore
Break down my shell, feel quiet riot
I want to run away What I wanna do
Now I see these dreams
No one can stop me goin' my way

Excellent lyrics, they show the way she is feeling in the moment that she's singing this song. The part of how she's telling how she doesn't care of herself anymore and that no one can stop her going her way just make me feel inspired, strong, I don't know I like this song because of everything.

Overall Rating:

reviewer did not include rating! u_u;

Princess Sailor Moon - Kaitlin

TONE/MOOD:

Woahhhh what the heck? This sounds very odd... Not bad, but odd. She sounds like she's singing too low for her to be comfortable. That, or she sexed it up a bit. Beat is good, but again this really doesn't do anything special for me. It's still a catchy tune though, no argument. Doesn't feel very intense though... then again, it's "Quiet Riot" right? Noooooooo! The obligatory english-rap part! BOOOO!

PLACEMENT:

Kawabe Chieko's Kizunairo

MEMORABLE:

Pretty good. Less than the last song.

LYRICS:

"I cry when I heard the truth
I felt so close to your heart
I saw everything you did
I heard your voice"

Awww... the guy from the first song betrayed her! She should have said goodbye. Ahahahaha that will not get old for me. Sorry. I understand the feeling of being betrayed though.

"Even if you were my husband in the future
I wouldn't hold your hand"

Chieko...dear... why would you marry someone who cheats on you, lies, and is a general asshat? Why!!!???

"Silent screamin'
Because to myself I'm alone
Break down my shell, feel quiet riot
Because I want to believe I do want to
This way isn't how
I want to share my last smile"

Awww poor girl. I think this song could have been portrayed better differently. Either an actual angry song (that'd be a nice change to Chieko) or a ballad.

OVERALL RATING:

3, download it for the lame rapping.

Zoicite - Ephie

Tone/Mood:

Again, the style of this song reminds me of arcade night at 1 in the morning. If it was in Cantonese, it would totally take me back. It would take me back nine times. It's hard to describe any other feeling or tone I get from this song, as the only thing I can think of is Life Plaza with the 2 for 1 boba specials and the Chinese posters everywhere.

Placement:

Cheiko's CD, all of which I should purchase.

Memorable:

I can't see me remembering this one, and even if I knew the lyrics, it might take a bit to remember it, mostly because I find the music, an essential part to the song, a little overbearing and it's sometimes hard to pick out the acutal melody in places.

Lyrics:

No one can stop me going my way It's almost easy to see why I like this lyric. It's empowering, in a way. I love to feel that way, like nothing can get in your way, no matter what, almost like you could conquer the world, all in an afternoon and still be back at home before supper.

Overall Rating:

I have to give this song a 2, unfortunately. It would have better, but there is one part where some guy raps in English, and I really don't care for that part, which is a shame, seeing the rest of the song deserves a 3.

Sailor Luna - Emo-chan

Tone/Mood

This sound slike a more mature song. Her tone changes and sounds older, which sounds really interesting. This just goes to show how talented she is.

Placement

N/A

Memorible

Not one of her best songs, and I wont really remember it, but any die hard Cheiko fan might!

Lyrics

This song sound slike a hip-hopish song. The lyrics are the same way. Silent screamin' I don't care about myself anymore Break down my shell, feel quiet riot I want to run away What I wanna do Now I see these dreams No one can stop me goin' my way I like the imagery in the song, but Im not a huge fan of how it is sung.

Overall

a 3, only because I wasnt a huge fan of this style of song. It felt like compared to the others, she changed her style almost completely. But I did like how her voice sounded more mature.

Sailorasteroid - Sailor Pluto

Mood:

Come on, feel the noise! Oh, wait, it's the *other* Quiet Riot. This was Chieco's first attempt to veer into the harder beats perhaps in an attempt to force her way onto club mixes.

Placement:

Last on a single.

Memorable:

Yes, the rap bridge ensures you won't forget it. Too much English in the song, though.

Lyrics:

But credit must be given, because only a Japanese could sing a song called Quiet Riot and have the two words NOT RHYME!

Overall:

Meh, I'm just not a big enough fan of the whole "urban street" thing to get this kind of music. I just like the pretty singer. Three.

Sailor Mars - Akarui

Tone/Mood

Well... I kinda feel anger in this song. Because of the dynamics of the song, the tone of the voice, and all... but I really like listening to it anyway.

Placement

Nope, still wasn't placed :P .

Memorable

If memorable ? Hell yeah :P . It's the song I liked best before hearing the entire album. I just try to sing this song whenever I can, and I can't get enough of it. :P

Lyrics

Well, given the fact that this seems to be about anger (Silent screaming, Break down my shell free quiet riot, no one can stop me going my way), I would say it all flows together, because the music is almost adding a hidden meaning to the song, like "You know what will happen if you piss me off" or something.

Overall Rating

5 for this one. It might not be my favorite, but still, it's my first favorite before the album came :P ...

Sailor Pluto - Ciao

Tone/Mood

Not to be confused with the American rock group *grins* this song is very hip hop/pop/salsa-ish. It's got a definite step to it, you have to hear it and sort of dance accordingly (if you were to dance to it...). I really like this song, because it's not your usual standard pop stuff. It's also not sickly sweet, which I really don't like.

Placement

Not in the the series.

Memorable

Its hip hop/pop/salsa style is pretty cool. It shows that she's not afraid to try different things musically. It's not quite working with this song, but it works just enough in that I really like it.

Lyrics

The lyrics don't seem to fit so well into the music/melody, but it is still a good song. The syncopation is a bit much for the lyrics I feel. It is almost distracting from the goodness of the song/melody as a whole because that is all I can hear. The addition of the almost American rapping in it gives it a neat twist, even if it's not in English (most of it anyway...).

Overall Rating

4/5 because of the fact that the lyrics seem to be a bit disjointed with the music. It's still a great song for all that, which is why I like it, even so.

Sailor V - Jessica

Tone/Mood

From the very start, this song sounds angst ridden, to me. The mood isn't exactly depressing, but down and hurting, as if there's no escape. I always get stuck with the image of a girl huddled angrily in a corner, refusing to cry. This isn't a 'get up and go' song, it's a 'throw loose furniture around' one.

Placement

None

Memorable

I adore this song because I have so many random memories attached to it. I think you're more likely to remember it depending on the mood you're in when you first here it. It also depends how much you can relate to the song, and I suppose most people can, on some level, for at least one moment in their lives.

Lyrics

Silent screamin'
Because to myself I'm alone,
Break down my shell, feel quiet riot.
Because I want to believe, I do want to
This way isn't how
I want to share my last smile

I've never thought of it before, but somehow I suddenly thought these lyrics could be associated with suicide. Hopefully not. Anyway. I love these lines; its like the battle that everybody has going on inside them and wont let anybody see but themselves. Its as if there's suddenly no hope left.

Overall Rating

5/5 - love it, listen to it on repeat, helps me write fanfiction and the like.

Nephrite - Frosted_Rain

Tone/Mood

Her voice is a little bit different from others (the tone of her voice, to be specific). Slow and has an R&B tone. Whoa, japanese R&B? That's strange... especially when Chieko is singing. The rapped english part of the song reminds me of Linkin Park's songs. Now that's even stranger.

Placement

Not in the series

Memorable

As i said earlier, hearing the rapped english part of the song reminds me of Linkin Park (LOLZ!!!) Hearing this song reminds me of that band. I keep thinking if Mike Shionda (Hip-Hop & Ryhme Vocalist of Linkin Park) would have sang the english rap part of Quiet Riot. Now that's what i call crossover!

Lyrics

This time your voice is
Your own ending

DOOMSDAY!!! That's painful!

I don't care about myself anymore
Break down my shell, feel quiet riot
I want to run away What I wanna do
Now I see these dreams
No one can stop me goin' my way

That's gonna hurt. I think helping and guidance should be the answer for that.

Overall Rating

3 out of five hearts. Kaitlin is right, blame it from the bad rapping. (LOLZ!!) It gave me a weird expression but hey it's not really as that bad (especially the tone of her singing on this song).

Sailor Uranus - G.E.Artemis

Tone/Mood:

I love the background music. It’s so quirky, and it fits perfectly. I can feel the harder edge to Chieko’s voice in contrast to some of her other songs, which is good as this is a much tougher song. Which I like. =)

Placement:

Kawabe Chieko’s Shining.

Memorable:

It is to me, since the tone is so much different than her other songs. It’s also memorable for the Engrish rap.

Lyrics:

The purple twilight
is becoming the start of a new day
This time your voice is
Your own ending

Yeah, you tell him, Chieko :P The lyrics are strong-they translate well into English and they give the message well.

Rating:

Even with the rap, this is by far my favorite song of Kawabe’s. If only it were longer.
