Romance

Sailor Luna - Emo-chan

Tone/Mood

OKAY!!!! This has to be my favorite PGSM Song. The tone is so happy and cute! You wanna dance and have fun with Minako as she sings. It's energetic and very relaxing when you listen to it. It's a great song to listen to when you wanna cheer yourself up.

Placement

First time you hear it is at the lil school concert when Mio tricked Usagi to make her look bad. I loved that scene! When Minako points to Mio like: I know what you did!! I loved it!! Mio's response was awsome. You also hear it in ep 36/37 when Usagi and Mamoru go to her concert. Her outfit in that was weird, but cool all the same. Plus it's in the dance video, aaaaand in the Live event. It fits in every scene that you see it in and it brings energy to the shows.

Memorable

To me, this will be up there with the songs that come to mind when i think of PGSM. This and C'est La Vie I think are the most memorible Minako Aino songs. The lyrics stick in your head, and when you watch the show or the dance video as much as I have, you know the dance too! Very cretaive and fun to do!!

Lyrics

I love the opening part of the song!!!
I love you, baby baby / Switch off the light / Baby baby, kiss me / Baby baby Romance, realize / Hey, don't keep it hidden / Hey, it's going to begin
and I love this part:
When the winds of spring / Will turn romance into love / I'm getting frustrated / I like it there, but / You hold me close to you / Inside my heart / With you so surprising
The words in this song are very catching and you remember them very well!

Overall Rating

HAHA! I'd give this song a 10!!! But hey, thats just me. So because this song rocks so much, I give it a 5. I love the beat, words, and I think this is one of Minako's better songs. It really shows Ayaka's talents in singing, in my opinion. Plus i know the dance to it!!! Gotta love this song!!! XD

Topaz - Sailor Mercury

Tone/Mood

Romance is a very happy sounding song. Its a really upbeat and danceable song. I first heard this song in act 30. I fell in love with it. And a side note Minako's dress in this act is butt kicking! But you hear the song and just feel the need to get up and sing and dance

Placement

Well, its first in act 30 and a few other acts after. This song is not really in the show to show mood in the storyline. Its the latest song from the famed Minako! So you hear it at her mini concert at the school, when has her big concert that she give Usagi tickets to, and a few other places. Its really seem just to be in the song as part of staying with Minako's job as an idol.

Memorable

Yes, this so is one of the most memorable songs in PGSM. You hear it a lot in the second half, in the dance lessons, and the live show. It really sticks in your head and find yourself singing it. And Minako is just so cute singing the song^^ The best is, I have a 18 month old that loves to try to dance to the some and sees mommy doing the dance moves and tries them herself. When she cannot do the she gives up and grabs on of the stuffed cat and dances.

Lyrics

I love you, baby baby
Switch off the light
Baby baby, kiss me
Baby baby
Romance, realize
Hey, don't keep it hidden
Hey, it's going to begin

This words would make you think of a slow song, not an upbeat dance song. The words just don't seem to fit. So you have words that seem all lovely and music that is very pop. Although last part of the song, the words do seem to fit the upbeat sound of the song to me. Its really a choice best left up to each person.

Overall Rating

I would give this song a four. Its a great song to listen to and dance along with. But the words of the song just same out of place to me. Though if anyone but Minako sang it would just not be the same. She has a wonderful voice. You really find yourself lost in the song. Hmm... I think I need to go and dance myself.

Ciao - Sailor Pluto

Tone/Mood

Definitely a song that grows on you. I didn't really know what to make of this song at first when I saw it in the Act, since I was so used to hearing C'est la Vie, but it gets better and better the more I hear it, and the improvement in Komatsu-san's singing is noticeable. This song really suits her and should be more of a character song for Aino Minako, being that it talks about how one feels when in love.

Placement

I really enjoyed where it was placed in the show, particularly since it gave us all a chance to see the cute little dance she does while performing the song, and it's very catchy as a song and dance routine. The way she singled out Mio in that one episode was really slick and it gave me more of an appreciation of the writers of the show (which presumably include Takeuchi-sensei herself!) as to the more...subtle parts of the show.

Memorable

This song SCREAMS out MINAKO-CHAN to me *grins* and I just love the routine.. I can pretty much see it in my mind as I write it and every once in a while I do the little hand motions, which if my family were here, they'd prolly be rolling their eyes and sighing right about now *grins* Definitely a favourite song for me.

Lyrics

As with most of the songs in the show, the lyrics really fit the mood and context of the show very well. Coming as it does, right around the time that Mamoru-kun and Usagi-chan work out that they do actually like each other, it describes what the characters could be feeling at the time, with the sparkle of new love on them still.

Overall Rating

Given that the song took a little while to grow on me, I now love it to death and can't get enough of it. The snappy little dance/hand movements really help make it one of THOSE kinds of songs that you just can't get out of your head, and drive other ppl nuts by singing or humming the tune all day. I'd give it 5 stars, mainly because it's so well done, as well as being quite a signature piece for the character of Aino Minako.

Sailor Neptune - Ruth

Tone/Mood

This is yet another happy, upbeat song by the one and only Aino Minako! This is my favorite upbeat song in the series. This song includes cute dance moves- which I know all of them-and a catchy tune to sing along. 'Romance' is so cute to my ears that whenever I hear it I must get make a heart with my hands and follow along. Kawaii!!!

Placement

Well the first time, I believe, this song was used was when Minako showed up to save Usagi from total embarrassment. Minako laying the smackdown on Mio! The song was also used for another concert in the show-which she fainted.. I believe that is all this song is good for-for concerts. It really doesn't go with the show other then to sell tickets. Heh...it's also good for dancing!

Memorable

Only to dance! This song is very dance material so if you like to shake your thang (yes thang not thing...it's slang people work with me!) and bust a groove then I suggest this song!

Lyrics

While some of the song is in English, or Engrish for those who knows what that means, I found the following lines the most romantic (pun intended):
"The weather is good today// I see your reflection in the window// I inscribe my love in my diary Same as usual// But in some way I feel the distance a little// You are locked In my heart// The miracle of our meeting// Was not an accident// Our embrace is stimulating to my skin"
I really think this fits towards the relationship of Mamoru and Usagi but that's just my opinion. For all we know Minako has a crush on someone and wrote this song just for that person. ^_^ Anywho back to the subject at hand. The lyrics work well with the song translated in English which I like.

Overall Rating

5 Hearts! Yeppers! I gave this song a 5! I love it to death and I never get tired of hearing it. Or singing it for that matter.

Ilse - Dark Sailor Mercury

Tone/Mood

Man! I like the song! It makes me feel happy. It gives me new energy. Only one thing. Akaya's voice sounds odd. It's not her normal voice, I think. But I do like the melody.

Placement

I've heard the song for the first time in act 30. After act 30, I liked the song very much! The moves are so cute! But the dress she wore the first time. UGLY! I still don't like it. I liked the dress she wore the second time better.

Memorable

Well, it's Akaya's second song. Better than C'est la vie. But I like her other songs better. I still think; Akaya's voice sounds bad/odd.

Lyrics:

The lyrics are a bit corny. Not really a love song. "I can see hope, I can see sparkles" Well, I guess Naoko wrote the lyrics!

Overall rating:

I give it a rating of 3 hearts. I love the melody, I love the moves, but I don't like the lyrics and Akaya's voice. But it's still a cool song.

Jessica - Sailor V

Tone/Mood

This song is just so happy and cheerful you just have to sing along, even dance! I think it has the ability to instantly cheer you up if you're feeling down. The hand movements that go with the song are so cute too! The whole thing just makes you want to get up and go!

Placement

The song first appears in Act 30 and later in Act 35. I think it fitted well in Act 30, because Usagi was so upset and anxious, as well as the crowd being disappointed, but then suddenly there's Minako singing a song they all dance along to! I loved the way she pointed at Mio with this, 'you try to hurt my princess again and I'm going to kick your ass!' attitude. I think it also fits well in Act 35, Minako having given up on erasing Usagi's memories and possibly giving in to their 'romance'.

Memorable

Its 'Minako's song'. It'll also be Minako's song and always associated primarily with her. I tried using the song in a fic and I laugh every time I think of it now! I've been known to go around humming and singing the song and it's a real mood lifter. I think its more memorable as used in Act 30 rather than the latter act though.

Lyrics

I love you, baby baby,
Switch off the light.
Baby baby, kiss me.
Baby baby Romance, realize.
Hey, don't keep it hidden!
Hey, it's going to begin!

I love these lyrics, but if the whole song is read on its own without having heard the song, you'd expect it to be slow. However, after hearing the beat it goes to, the lyrics just wouldn't fit anything else. Somehow though, I don't think they exactly 'fit' anyone in PGSM, even Usagi and Mamoru. It just seems to be a great song written for an idol.

Overall Rating

5/5 - I love this song and can't help but sing along!

Elly - Princess Serenity

Tone/Mood

What a happy song this is! Seriously, my head feels like it's going to explode whenever I listen to this song. It's like someone shot me up with pixie stix, or something. Bah. This song is really happy and fast and hyper.

Placement

I loved the episode where Minako upstaged Mio and showed up to the concert and sung this song. The hand movements in the dance lesson and in the show are *so* cute! Also, I love the live show that Minako gives Usagi and Mamoru the tickets to where she passes out and all, but when she's singing this with the little cowboy suit on it's very cute! This song was placed well. Perhaps for the passing out scene though, they should have selected something a little less...happy.

Memorable

This song ranks up there with "C'est La Vie" as a very Komatsu Ayaka song. You'd be hard pressed to find a PGSM fan that *doesn't* know about this song.

Lyrics

Kyou wa otenki na no
Mado utsuru anata
Koi wo kizandeku DAIARII
OKIMARI desu
Demo nanika sukoshi kyori kanjiteru wa
Anata watashi no mune ni
Kagi wo kakete shimau wa
Deaeta kiseki wa
Guuzen ja nai no ni
Dakiai hada ni shigekiteki

I love these lyrics! They really remind me of the seriousness of the new personality of Sailor Venus as portrayed by Komatsu-san. These lyrics seem to work particularly well in English, as in comparison with some songs like Kirari*Sailor Dream...

Overall Rating

3/5 - Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, but this song isn't what it could have been. The lyrics are nice, but I feel that Komatsu sung them a bit too fast for the pace of the song. This song should have been made a lot slower. Love songs are not meant to be fast-paced. This song is hyper in a way reminiscent to Over Rainbow Tour. Bah.

Frosted_Rain - Nephrite

Tone/Mood

Oh baby, whattamove! Another decent JPOP dancebeat since i don't know when. All of my buddies (male, evil-looking spawns between heaven and hell) cannot resist dancing the beat. Tone is 50% upbeat and 50% good mood equals 101% of pure JPOP disco mania. One song that will always be stuck in my head.

Placement

The song was first heard on Act 30. The episode gave way to the concert where Minako collapsed on stage. It was well done indeed that ONLY MINAKO SANG THIS SONG on the later episodes (I don't know how it sounds when the others sang this song).

Memorable

I've watched Kirari Super Live featuring this song. Komatsu Ayaka, Hama Chisaki and Sawaii Miyuu performed this song. While I was watching the movie clip, my other friend Baby Gurl (he's male, has a deep obsession with Kitagawa Keiko and a fellow computer geek) interrupted my viewing, increased the volume and danced the same moves of the song. Suddenly, a thug-looking guy known as LoCo followed the hand movements of the dance. Thus began the Romance Dance Mania. I confess when no one's watching, I practice the dance beat (eventhough it's embarassing and freaky but hey, it's fun... duh!).

Lyrics

I Need you Baby Baby RAITO keshite
Baby Baby Kiss wo shite
Baby Baby
Romance kizuite
Baby Baby hoho wo yosete
Baby Baby kimagure ne
Baby Baby Sore de mo tanoshii
HORA kibou ga mieru
HORA kagayaku ne!

Same as the dance movements, the chorus line is very easy to remember. Yeah, baby!

Overall Rating

This is probably the most embarassing review I've ever made. During between lines while I made this review, I sometimes flipped; just dancing small moves of the song. The dance moves is a very good teasing technique to my other friends who watched the series. All of them have the same reactoin :WTF!? And i just laugh. If possible, I give this a 7/5. For know, just 5/5.

Sat - Sailor Saturn

Tone

There is something about this song that when you hear it, you start to dance to it. I can't count how many times I have tried to do the dance moves in the car when this song comes on and almost crashed into somebody ^_^;;; However, I still listen to it over and over and it doesn't get old to me.

Placement

The ever famous in your face moment to Mio. I loved it incredably. Plus Minako was looking extra hot in those scenes, so that is always a plus. But the best part about the placement is that that is the exact ep that we started calling Mio a baby eater because when Minako made her angry her mouth just looked even more enormous then it normally does. Way to go Minako!!!

Memorable

Do I need to repeat what I said for Placement?

Lyrics

The opening lyrics of the song have to be my favorite. I have sung it to my daughter on more then one occassion and she loves to bounce around to it. "I Love You Baby Baby" was also almost the title for my Venus site at one point, so that should give you an idea of how much I like that line.

Overall Rating

4 Hearts. The only reason I say 4 is because when this song first shows up in the series, Minako is still a bit of a bitch as a whole. I feel that the song is too happy for its original placement, but as it goes on, it shows more of her personality. Because of this, it loses a heart, but I still recommend it for anybody.

Sailor Uranus - Nickole

Tone/Mood

This is an EXCELLENT PGSM song!!! I just loved it!! The beat of this song just totally rocks, and it makes you want to get up dance, and dance, and dance!!!!

Placement

I saw it in episode 36 when Mamoru and Usagi go to Minakos concert. The song is a great song for Minako too sing at her concert!! It brings out the best of MInako as an idol.

Memorable

This song is a definate one to be memorized in your head for a LONG time! Its just got beatfiful lyrics, and an awesome beat too it! One of Minakos best!

Lyrics

I love you, baby baby
Switch off the light
Baby baby, kiss me
Baby baby
Romance, realize
Hey, don't keep it hidden
Hey, it's going to begin

These lyrics just bring in the song with a complete awesome essence! There easy to remember, and they just make it sound terrific!

Overall Rating

I will definatly give this song a 5, because its got a great beat to it! I just love to dance too it, and it brings out Minako well in the PGSM storyline!

Tobias - Sailor Venus

Tone/Mood

This song is one to dance to... it starts up with an exciting pitch maintaining a generally energetic tone. This song gets me in the same mood that "C'est la vie" does. I have heard this song several times throughout the various acts of Sailormoon... I first saw Minako (Komatsu Ayaka-san) perform it in the Act where Mio has Usagi stage a concert with Minako singing and have Minako not show up... but Minako was wise to it and showed up... I loved when she pointed at Mio... with a look that said "I know what your up to... and I don't trust you." This song is not overly hyper too so it makes it easier to listen to.

Placement

This songs placement in the various acts was good... for a change of pace... as compared to the rather frequent usage of "C'est la vie", and it made a nice little cliff hanger part for Act 35/36. As I stated above... This song works well with the Minako Aino, Senshi of Love... because it is a energetic little J- pop love song!

Memorable

I can say this song is memorable to me... its catchy, fun and easy to listen to... many times in a row... When I think of PGSM Minako I think of C'est la vie or Romance... at least when it comes to songs... and how can you not enjoy the dance? The little heart and the hand sweep... its just a fun song to hear. Where I listen to it is at work, home and on the go... However despite the fact that I own the Moonlight Real Girl box set, I don't play the Minako album... I burned a copy of it... so I didn't have to play the actual disc too much, while also adding off vocal (karaoke) versions of "Romance", "C'est la vie", and "Katagoshi ni Kinsei" to it to lengthen the album.

Lyrics

I love the lyrics... although some parts make no sense... However I love the chorus... "Baby baby kisu wo shite! Baby baby! Romance kizuite! Baby Baby! hoho wo yosete! Baby Baby! Kimagure ne! Baby Baby! Sore de mo tanoshii! HORA! Kibou ga mieru HORA! Kagayaku ne!" The song just has those excitement driven words that get you going.

Overall Rating

A five out of five. The song is fun, doesn't grate on your nerves... and gets stuck in your head and is just generally an enjoyable song. (I've had people who work with me who never even heard of Sailormoon [any version] and liked the song.)

Sebi - Jedite

Tone/Mood

Very, VERY, happy. In a trippy kinda way. I defy any who listen to this song not to immediatly get into a good mood. Prolly not a good idea to listen to during sugar highs though as an overdose of perkiness is likely to result.

Placement

First heard at the school concert where Mio tries to mess with Usagi.

Memorable

Memorable? It will be ingrained on your brain. A song of this kind cannot be forgotten easily. This song will have you within seconds of starting and won't let go for a long time even after it finishes.

Lyrics:

Understandable, and *ahem* not the least bit subtle about its meaning. They manage to both make sense and give that song its trippy/perky feel.

Overall Rating

Kara - Kuroki Mio

TONE/MOOD:

I like hearing Ayaka do upbeat songs. I really do. My only problem is that she tends to sound a little bored when she does them. Luckily, this one has a nice sweet/sappy edge that allows her to get away with it. The synthesizer is cute at first, but after they've used the same riff for awhile, it gets a bit annoying.

PLACEMENT:

Aino Minako's character single, as well as a couple episodes in concert.

MEMORABLE:

Yes, if only for the dance that goes with it. Alone, not quite as much - it's more memorable in the context of the show.

LYRICS:

These are really nothing special. They're not substandard, but they ARE standard. The 'Ufufu' creeped me out a bit, too. I'm not sure why. For sheer earworm value, though, you can't beat the repetitive 'Baby, baby.'

OVERALL RATING:

3 out of 5. I like it, but it isn't particularly special.

De'Angelo - Sailor Mars

Tone/Mood

The song sounds like it could cheer anyone up when their in a love crisis. I mean, the beginning lyrics are like a make-up song when you were once in a disagreement. As soon as the song starts, you want to get up and do the dance to it! I want to, but I have to finish this review. ^^;

Lyrics

The first time I saw the lyrics of the chorus, I thought the song was a little exotic.

"Switch off the light"

This was the one bit, but maybe I'm overanalzying as usual. However, my favorite lines were basically the repeating of "Baby". It catches your attention and makes the song a lot more catchy and memorable.

Memorable

Speaking of which, this song is sort of memorable. The one line that makes it memorable to anyone is "Baby, Baby". That's just about it. Plus, it takes practice to remember the changing notes (in the verses). It took me a while to get that part right myself, as I am a great song-learner.

Overall Rating

I give this song a 3. I like the repitition of "Baby, Baby", but that's just about the only part I like besided the dance.
