Sayonara

Sailor Luna - Emo-chan

Tone/Mood

This song has a sweet melody to it. It has that sad tone to it beacuse when you hear it, you're probably crying. I like the song though....so much that I had made a video to it!!^_^ But anyways, I thought this song was very nice and sweet sounding.

Placement

Well when you hear this song it's after Ayaka dies....

Memorable

It will be memorible to me because you hear Ayaka sing it whe she's dead. It's her last song in the show that you hear, and her voice shines in it.

Lyrics

I know this song seems like a love song about a boy, but some of the words do connect her with the other senshi, and it's very sweet, like: I think you will return to the light eventually You'll buy a small bag to bring with you and But my heart is always with you This time I'll meet the light if this time the fog covers my shame The words are quite pretty in this song.

Overall Rating

I will give this song a 4. It has good lyrics and a great melody, plus it made me cry!! Gotta give them credit for that! ^^

Topaz - Sailor Mercury

Tone/Mood

The first thing you hear is a sad tone and then an uplifting tone follow by singing. Its as if something sad has happened but you want to say it will be all right. Stay strong and we will surly meet again one day

Placement

Sweet days is the song that is play as the four girl go back to the crown and read the letter Minako left for them. Fits well at that point of the show. It Also, I believe the last song that Idol Minako was planing to put out and Usagi had wanted to hear very much. But not as a last song of her favorite singer and friend.

Memorable

Is this song memorable to you? Oh gosh yes. After watch the sad Act that Minako passes on the next life. You are in tears and then you hear this song and it will forever be the song put with the death and farewell of Minako.

Lyrics

Two times and I have turned back time to cross over with you This just scream that these words are for you Usagi. That she had been with her as the princess and as sailor moon. All Minako had wanted was for the safety and happiness of Usagi. I think the words are very fitting at this point in the story line and with the music in the song.

Overall Rating

I would give this song a 4. The words and music blend very well. it stays with you and brings you to tears when you hear it again. But I think there is just something small missing, I am unsure what

Sailor Neptune - Ruth

Tone/Mood

OMG! *Cries* I LOVE this song! It's sooo sad only because it was used when Rei was reading Minako's farewell letter. *Wails* This song is a ballad with a slight upbeat to it. By 'upbeat' I mean tone-not mood. The whole song is just so moving that I can't help but listen to it over and over!

Placement

I thought this song was used perfectly for her goodbye! I mean even the title fits! Whenever I hear this song I can only picture Minako singing it and saying goodbye to her friends...*starts to cry again* Someone hold me!

Memorable

Silly question! Again, one hears this song and will think of that moment in Act 47 where she fades away for the last time! All Minako fans I know like this song to the core so I know you will like it too!

Lyrics

Some of the lyrics are so so when translated but beautiful nontheless. She saying goodbye in a song and Ayaka did an absolute great job with this that I'm not gonna complain about the lyrics not making sense in some areas.

Overall Rating

*Wails* *Sniffs* Well I'm giving this 4 hearts! Why not five...well the lyrics. Other then that this song is the perfect ballad in PGSM!

Jessica - Sailor V

Mood/Tone

I think the song has a sad and sombre tone to it, the pace matching the mood, but as it carries on it doesn't exactly become a happy song, far from it, but it just has this whole, 'its going to be okay someday' tone to it.

Placement

Couldn't be used anywhere else. At all. Its used in the fake 'dream' sequence, when Minako sings the song at her welcome back party, and reads the letter to everybody. If it were used anywhere else after that, say in the Special Act, I think it would have lost a lot of impact. Having Minako perform this to a crowd at a concert would have also seemed strangely inappropriate.

Memorable

I think this song will always be known as, 'the one when Minako died' and I don't think it will ever be able to escape that. That's one of the reasons why it's a depressing song; I'll remember it because I couldn't listen to it without wanting to cry after seeing the Act.

Lyrics

I've left this relationship fairly
But my heart is always with you

Had Minako not made amends with the Senshi in the end, I don't think lyrics like this would have worked. I like the lyrics of the song, but they're just somehow too random for me. Yet the song as a whole seems to 'fit' the situation.

Overall Rating

3/5 - I love the melody of this song, but its just not one you want to listen to amongst a lot of the other PGSM music. The first times I tried to play it after Act 47, I turned it straight off again because it was upsetting.

Elly - Princess Serenity

Mood/Tone

This song sounds a lot like it should be a children's lullaby. I was not expecting this to be Venus's exit song at all. This song sounds far too happy to be a goodbye.

Placement

This song is so fecking depressing. I cried twice when Venus died, so hearing this song brings back the emotions...I know that sounds corny, but it's true. Very nice placement for a dramatic effect. I'm sure this song made other people cry, too.

Memorable

If someone doesn't recognize this song, then they haven't watched PGSM. This song is *the* image of Minako-chan dying, and if someone doesn't know it, then they really need to get their head checked. How someone can be a PGSM fan and never heard this song is beyond me.

Lyrics

Having translated the lyrics myself, there's not much to say about them. They're you're typical "goodbye, see you again in another life, blah blah blah I'll miss you" lyrics. Nothing too original, or too great.

Overall Rating

This song isn't all I had hoped it would be. It sounds far too happy to be a goodbye song, and the lyrics are nothing special. This song works well as background music.

Ilse - Dark Sailor Mercury

Tone/Mood

This song made my cry. If I hear it I think about saying goodbye to people. This is definitely my favorite Akaya song!!! Go Akaya!

Placement

I heard it first in act 47. Such a sad act!!! Minako dies very unexpected. The acting was great. The first pgsm act that made me cry.

Memorable

I think lots of people will remember the song. Especially because it's played in Minako's death scene. And because the song is happy, and sad. It's good to play the song if you lost someone you loved.

Lyrics:

The lyrics are fantastic!!! I think you will return to the light eventually. Just beautiful. There is a bit of dead into it. My heart is always with you. SO beautiful!

Overall rating:

I give it a rating of 5 hearts. It's Akaya's best song. And my favourite song! I love everything. The lyrics are great, it's memorable, just one of Akaya's good songs. It has a message inside, and I think it has helped some people.

Frosted_Rain - Nephrite

Tone/Mood

This is one of the songs I normally play late at night when i study or relax during weekdays. Its soft, mellow tone is very calm. Not a typical upbeat, hyper JPOP that's a morale booster. This song can either make one cry or feel one's soft, warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Placement

The song was heard on Act 47 where Minako sang it on their "supposed" party for her. Unfortunately, she died on the operation. The song's title is a good match for that scene. Most people I've observed (over the Net or some of my friends who watched that Act) either cried or felt sad.

Memorable

There are times that I would just be alone, be sad and just cry (haven't done it since 2 years ever since my cat died). But i resort myself (having money and a couple of buddies) in drowning myself in alcohol and let out my sorrows to the world (pity me... I'm one of the sad men of this sad world). This song is a good background song for me to let out my sorrows. Sob.

Lyrics

Tokidoki kumo no kirema ni Taiyou ga kao wo desuyou ni
Omoi kaesu hi ga kuru yo soshite
Tsuraku te mo egao de ite Nakidashi sou na toki ni koso waratte
Sore ga ikiru akashi dakara

I hum these lines whenever I get bored in class or just feel alone. I combine these lines with another line from Komatsu Ayaka's song titled I'm Here. About the theme, it doesn't affect me.

Overall Rating

Her voice is perfect for this song. I also love the guitar solo during the finale. Unlike her other songs which are upbeat (except I'm Here and Katagoshi ni Kinsei), Sayonara~Sweet Days is different. 5/5

Sat - Sailor Saturn

Tone

This song reminds me of a country/western ballad for some reason and it isn't drawing me into it at all... nor do I think it ever will.

Placement

She died! I feel that Kitagoshi ni Kinsei was better suited for this scene then this song was.

Memorable

ONLY because she died. Other then that, I want to strike it from my memory banks.

Lyrics

"Tokidoki kumo no kirema ni Taiyou ga kao wo desuyou ni" Before I read the lyrics to this line in romanji, I thought she was saying "Doki Doki" and was just yelling "WTF?!". Either I have bad ears or I am just on crack.... either way.... the lyrics are quirky as usual. Not really surprising for a song of this calibur....

Overall Rating

1 Heart. This song has got to be the WORST character single for Venus thus far. I have to wonder what they were thinking when they used this for her death scene.... Wait! I got it! Maybe they were trying to kill us too!

Tobias - Sailor Venus

Tone/Mood

This song has a very mellow, yet free-flowing tone to it... its not really a sad tone but a hopeful one. I first heard this song when my copy of the "Moonlight Real Girl" box set arrived from Japan... I enjoyed the Minako album as a whole, of course... but this song was nice, because I had never even been exposed to it prior. Its a nice calm song to relax you after a day at work... or even, at work.

Placement

This song wasn't used in the show... but it was placed on Minako Aino's "I'll be Here" album included in the "Moonlight Real Girl" box set. It made a nice addition to the other five tracks... those being: C'est la vie, Romance, Katagoshi ni Kinsei, Sayonara Sweet Days, and Kiss!² Bang!². I do believe however, that this song could have worked in the show, in a recording studio shot or something... or background music to a touching scene between Minako and the other girls... But this song does fit the Minako image... its another charming addition to the PGSM songs.

Memorable

I like this song... where it becomes a memorable song (for myself, anyway...) I like listening to it usually back to back with Sayonara Sweet Days. Since I have burned the album... (I don't like listening to my actual cd... I bought it as a collector's item.) However, in terms to the show... this song isn't nearly as memorable as C'est la vie and Romance... then again, those songs were used more frequently in the show, yet, it can be memorable as a Minako song. Thus, it doesn't lose any importance.

Lyrics

"Dare ni mo ienai Hontou no kimochi wo"
"Who can say what my true feelings are?"

Those lyrics are kind of powerful... the fact that they represent Minako well... like her thoughts of the past life's mission and her illness... its interesting. The lyrics to the song fit well because its a serious kind of reflection song... it fits the live action Minako well...

"Akiramezu aruiteku Anata wa yuku beki michi wo mayowazu ni"
"Don't abandon walking when the road you follow misleads you"

Those are another good example of Minako's character... Her realization that the past life's mistake can be changed.

Overall Rating

4 out of 5... I enjoy this song on the same level I do "Sayonara Sweet Days". As I said prior... its usually back to back, since I think they sound good together.

Sailor Uranus - Nickole

Tone/Mood

Oh, where do I start!? This song is just so sad, its a song to listen to on a rainy day, or when your feeling down and blue.

Placement

Its at the part when Minako dies, (*SNIFF!*)

Memorable

To me, it isn't memorable beacause its a slow song, but I still enjoy the lyrics.

Lyrics

You say there's no special reason
Why is the wind around you warm?
Why does your face show difficulty?
I'm sorry, but it's always your way
will I be able to stare at the face in front of me bravely forever?
More innocent laughter meets pain, it's time for sweet days
Sometimes clouds cut into the sun of your face, don't they?
I think you will return to the light eventually
You'll buy a small bag to bring with you
Two times and I have turned back time to cross over with you

these lyrics bring out the sadness in Minakos voice as she dies.

Overall Rating

I'll give this song a 4, because it may have great lyrics, but I'm not a softy for slow songs.

Sebi - Jedite

Tone/Mood

Erm... very...dreamy. When you see the scene its attached to (or you understand the lyrics) an element of sadness becomes apparrent as well. A rather sad vibe, but at the same time a very relaxing song to listen to.

Placement

Played when Minako passes on.

Memorable

If you listen to it out of it's context, then prolly not. However, heard in accompanyment with the scenes its attatched to in the show, it becomes VERY memorable.

Lyrics

Mostly coherent. And rather sad, they add well to the songs emotional impact. They are also very fitting for the scene its attatched to. An odd sense of happiness comes from them as well when you hear them sung.

Overall Rating

Kara - Kuroki Mio

TONE/MOOD:

It's written to be a tearjerker, and it succeeds. I think the happiness that's fighting its way through the sad tone really does that successfully. I talk a lot about Ayaka sounding bored, and I think it's funny that this is the song where her vocal abilities really shine the most. Her voice is strong and has a base to it that it's been missing in most of her other recordings.

PLACEMENT:

The 'I'm Here' CD, as well as Minako's 'last' episode.

MEMORABLE:

Oh, yes.

LYRICS:

I'll let them speak for themselves.

I've left this relationship fairly
But my heart is always with you

Another song that sounds like you could play it on the radio as a stand-alone, but has a few little lines that stand out as special.

OVERALL RATING:

4 out of 5. If this weren't the song it is, I might dock it one more for a bit of the orchestration. But everything else about it - especially Ayaka's vocal strength here - counteracts that.
