Kaburenjo Theatre - the theatre where the "Dances of the Old Capital" are performed by geisha and maiko every year in Kyoto. It is turned into a cabaret after World War II.

Kamigyo Ward Hospital - provides medicine for Auntie in the middle of World War II when medical assistance was hard to come by. General Tottori arranges this.

Kamo River - a river that runs through Kyoto.

Kanako - a geisha that Hatsumomo exchanges hair ornaments with at a party when they are both very drunk. She plays the role of the courtier in the dance that Mameha stars in.

Kata-komon ro (型小紋櫓) - a kimono that the Nitta okiya owns. It means "stenciled designs, open weave silk gauze."

Kato, Yuki - A famous Gion geisha who lived as the bride-in-exile of George Morgan, the nephew of the famous J. Piermont. She was married at the age of 14, just after completing her training to be a geisha. She was forced to give up her Japanese citizenship after the marriage after obtaining freedom from her okiya and geisha mother at the price of $20,000, which her husband paid.

Katsue - a geisha who went to a party Iwamura Electric had arranged. Sayuri was scheduled to go, but she was told not to come after Nobu did not attend the party.

Kazuko - the name of a maid at the okiya where Mameha used to live.

Kazuyo - a geisha who seduced a man that couldn't be her danna.

Mrs. Kishino - the woman responsible for the prostitutes working at the Tatsuyo.

Kitcho - the restaurant that Dr. Crab and Sayuri go to after their mizuage ceremony is perfomed.

Koichi - Hatsumomo's lover, who is a chef at a noodle shop near the Nitta okiya.

Komoriya Teahouse - the first teahouse that Sayuri ever entertains at as an apprentice geisha.

Konda - the wigmaker for the geisha dances. He has a crush of sorts on Mameha.

Korin - another geisha in Gion. She is close friends with Hatsumomo and she spends her time around Awajiumi, like most other geisha. Her okiya eventually burns down and she spends her life during the war fitting lenses in a factory in Osaka. Her factory is eventually bombed and she is killed.

koshimaki (腰巻) - translates to "hip wrap." It is the robe that geisha wear underneath their kimono.

Kubo - the name of Nobu's little white dog. In a game of "Big Liar," Nubo says that his fur turned completely blue one day, and then red the next.

kuraitani (くらいたに) - literally means "valley of darkness." It is the word that the Japanese use to refer to the years from the Great Depression until the end of World War II.

Kuromonsuke, Awase - a kimono that the Nitta okiya owns. It means "black crested formal robes with inner lining."

kuroyaki (黒焼き) - literally means "char black." It is a kind of perfume that geisha used to wear that is made from charring wood and grinding it into a grayish dust.

Kyoto University Exhibition Hall - the building in which the sumo match that Sayuri and Mameha attend where Sayuri meets the Chairman (Iwamura Ken) and Nobu for the first time as a geisha.
