Princess Kakyuu was the ruler of the planet Kinmoku until Sailor Galaxia came during the "Holy Wars," or the "Sailor Wars." Kakyuu set out to find the "Light of Hope," a.k.a. Chibi Chibi, after her kingdom was devasted and her lover killed. Princess Kakyuu came to Earth with the Sailor Starlights, but was somehow seperated from them. She hid in an incense burner carried by Chibi Chibi. While gathering strength in the burner, Kakyuu often became a butterfly to watch Usagi, Chibi Chibi, and the Starlights.

In both the anime and the manga, the Starlights eventually discovered that Kakyuu hid within the incense burner. The Starlights smelled olive blossoms in the burner, which reminded them of Princess Kakyuu. In the anime, however, Kakyuu first appears in episode 192/193* during the Starlights concert when Sailor Tin Nyanko appears. In the manga, Kakyuu appears in Act 46 when the Starlights were visiting Usagi and discovered the incense burner Chibi Chibi was holding.

The only place Princess Kakyuu actually transforms into her Sailor form is in the manga. She goes with Sailor Moon, the Sailor Starlights, and Chibi Chibi to fight Sailor Galaxia and transforms during the fight with Sailor Phi and Chi. She is killed by Sailor Chi. In both versions, Kakyuu (along with everyone else) is restored and returns to her planet with the Starlights.

*I'm not sure whether it's episode 192 or 193. I've seen sites with both, and I have never seen any of the StarS episodes.
