Makato Kino may seem tough, almost tom-boyish at first, but she does have a girly side. She loves cooking and gardening and home economics is her favorite subject. She wishes to one day be a bride. Makato is always seen wearing her rose earrings - like I said, she loves gardening.

In the manga, Makato is first seen when she saves Usagi from being run over by a car. Makato is a new student at Usagi's school and is avoided by many because she was supposedly kicked out of her other school for fighting. Makato once again saves Usagi, this time from a frisbee. To her surprise, Usagi discovers that Makato loves to cook and she invites her to the arcade. Makato hangs out with Usagi, Ami, and Rei for a while, and even seems to have a crush on the arcade guy, Andrew. :) She is led on buy Andrew who is actually possessed a Dark Kingdom minion. When Sailor Moon and the gang show up, Makato discovers she is being used. Like most girls would, Makato gets angry and lifts up the evil "Bride's Ghost." This causes Jupiter's sign to glow on her forehead, and after Luna gives her her transforming pen, Makato transforms into Sailor Jupiter.

Mythology
Jupiter is the Roman version of the Greek god, Zeus. Zeus was the god of the sky and thunder and he was the essential king of the gods. He was the father of many lesser gods and goddesses and often slept with many goddess and mortals. Not much of the mythology of Zeus relates to Sailor Jupiter, except for the fact that they both control thunder and lightning.
