Ami Mizuno is one of the most intelligent sailor scouts with an i.q. that is said to be from 200 to even 300. She constantly receives the highest score in every exam she takes and is often called a genius. Ami is definately the brains for the scouts; she often carries around a mini-computer to analyze the enemy or to calculate other information. She lives with her mother in a very ritzy apartment.

Ami first learned that she was a sailor scout after she was attacked by a Dark Kingdom minion at her cram school. The computers at the school were sucking out people's energy and Sailor Moon arrived to save the day. The Dark Kingdom minion grabbed Ami, and after Luna told Ami to use her special pen, Ami transformed into Sailor Mercury. Ami received this special transformation pen after she attained the high score at the Sailor V game at the arcade. Sailor Mercury controls water and also has the ability to make areas very foggy.

Mythology
Mercury is the Roman version of the Greek god, Hermes. Hermes is the son of Zeus and Mais and is the messenger of the gods and the god of commerce, music, and travelers. Hermes is a notorious thief and supposedly invented the lyre, a musical instrument similar to the harp. Hermes also wears boots with wings that give him the ability to fly.

Ami's astrological sign is Virgo. Like most of the other scouts and their signs, Virgo's ruling planet is Mercury.
