Sailor Moon Sailor Moon is arguably the most famous scout. She is the main character and the anime and manga were named after her. Usagi is a clutzy, boy-crazy, teenage girl. Her blonde hair is fashioned in a style called "odango." As she fights new evils she becomes a mature young lady that learns to never back away and face her fears. Still, there's always a point when she becomes a "klutz" again. Usagi is very caring and thoughtful, but can be extremely jealous at times - especially when it comes to Mamoru. This is a story of a teenager in middle school who finds out she's Sailor Moon. Her name is Usagi in Japan; Serena, dubbed; and Bunny in the manga. Bunny is the literally translation of "Usagi." She finds out there is other scouts too, and they all ward off evil. In the first season of the anime they fight the evil Queen Beryl and her minions and lose their memory. Then they fight Ann and Alan and the Doom Tree. Ann and Alan learn the ways of "good" and leave their evil ways. In the next season its the Doom Phantom along with Prince Diamond, Saphire, etc. After that it's the dead moon circus, with the leader, Queen Nephrenia. And finally, it's Sailor Galaxia and Chaos. Sailor Galaxia and Choas are Sailor Moon's final enemies. With each new enemy she gains different new powers to help her. She meets many new scouts too - a scout for each planet in the solar system and others related to various other myths and planets. In the manga there's the same enimes and some new ones - Sailor Lethe, Mnemosyne, and Heavy Metal Papillion for example. Many get confused between anime and manga, but I think manga is the most precise, and makes more sense. The drawings are much more pleasing to the eye than the anime. There are also movies on Sailor Moon, which all take place at some point in the series. The enemies in the movies are: Faiore, Snow Queen Kaguya, and Badeonu. Attacks [Anime] Attacks [Manga] Tranformation Mythology One of the most apparent connections with Greek mythology is that of Selene, the goddess of the moon. Selene relates to Princess Serenity. Selene has many love affairs and, like Serenity, falls in love with a prince from earth named Endymion. One way or another (sources state different causes) Endymion is put into an eternal sleep and never ages. Like the myth, Princess Serenity falls in love with Endymion and in the Neo-Queen Serenity age, Endymion never ages. Usagi's astrological sign is cancer. Cancer's vary in that they can be timid, dull, or brilliant. Generally, cancer's are fun-loving but can be moody at times. Women who are born under the sign of cancer tend to be very motherly. In relationships, cancer's tend to be both harsh and soft and are often too influenced by the ones they love. Those born under the sign of cancer are usually emotional, loving, cautious, protective, moody, touchy, and clingy. |
